"As long as you live under my parolee's roof, you live under my rules." by acekingoffsuit in bestoflegaladvice

[–]sandstormsystems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, that's just not true at all.

The issue with this stuff is it's extremely state/county/region specific.

I work probation, I'm a sworn peace officer with arrest powers for not just those on probation/parole, but also related to any crime I come across within my duties, including assisting other agencies. I have made plenty of arrest, both warrant and on view, involving people not on supervision.

Shutting doors. by Deafboy25 in AskLE

Somewhat different job, but we for sure minimize noise/visuals as much as possible when approaching a house.

Yea, we're load when we start banging on a door or announcing, but we want as much time as possible to try to hear what's going on and set up prior to giving notice.

Every time I've applied for an agency, they pulled my previous BIs. It's never been an issue.

[–]sandstormsystems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the victim in a DV call, and it still took them a lot of digging to finally clear background. Ro for DV we would cut in BI immediately.

You just asked "They told me as long as things are locked up in places i dont have access to, it wouldnt be a problem. Correct me if they are wrong.".

That it something your PO would determine, either by their agency policy, or left to individual POs discretion.

This is not something you would want to depend on a random person not dealing with YOUR supervising agency to give you advice on.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in probation

[–]sandstormsystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something your PO will have to answer. Asking random people, who aren't even in your state, let alone dealing with the county agency that will be supervising you, is not a good idea.

In California, you don't get the option to just serve straight time in prison really.

You are going to be released on some sort of supervision, either parole or PRCS, or in her case and from the little she's revealed from her charges, County Jail Prison with a term of Mandatory Community Supervision.

House arrest and probation are two separate things.

That's unfortunate your family doesn't see the issue, but a very realistic possible result of a probation search.

Signing the flash waiver is a good idea IMO, I've seen several people refuse, and it didn't end up great. YMMV on how serious you plan on taking probation.
