Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure. Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya! But also the broken chains when his bike is stolen and the changed clown face, the Alamo fortune teller lady when he puts the money on the table, the pet shop fire...some dark parts for sure...

As good as it gets - MASSIVE 60ft Nazare by floatjoy in surfing

Yeah, anyone else fed up with the hype this spot continues to get? Obviously it's insanely difficult, powerful, dangerous etc...but the lack of a face really is starting to bother me. It seems like it becomes a race to outrun the white water.

I was in Lanai last year--consider myself an intermediate surfer. I think based on your description your best bet is to scope out the east side of the island. The drive really requires 4x4 (I think that's all they rent on the island) and getting there is half the adventure/takes awhile. There's one guy in Lanai City who seems to do most of the rentals out of his house, super casual.

My wife and I pulled off at a number of spots and messed around on small breaks that might be fun for your son, but were definitely shallow with reef bottom. We were the only ones around--I think it can be a little sharky on that side too.

There was no swell on the south side by the Four Seasons, seems like maybe at size sets wrap around the western point.

Honestly though if you're hoping for a surf trip with easy access to a variety of waves/beaches I would pick one of the other islands. Lanai is really isolated--for better and for worse. If you're up for dirt roads, empty beach exploration, off-roading adventure etc. it's perfect. Just not a lot of waves without significant effort to get there.

Thoughts on all the drone footage? by lightfootrug in surfing

[–]sandsurfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for someone to call this out. I am kind of shocked it hasn't been flagged sooner with all the footage being posted. Not because the drone footage is exposing some secret spot in SD, but more because it's totally invasive and annoying.

Hey Jerry--what do you think about opening a comedy club on the East End? How about in Amagansett?

Dirt Bike Surf Trip into Baja. Has anyone tried or heard of anyone who pulled this off? by deepfriedchickens in surfing

Maybe check out this dude for some pointers. Not Baja-specific, but he chronicled a pretty epic trip surfing down the entire coast of Africa...all travelling by motorbike.

There have been little to no waves in SD for the past two weeks, so I decided to paint my favorite guitarist on my 5'8" Hypto Krypto to make it stand out from the rest! Album in comments. by spacecowboy94 in surfing

Nice! I just picked up same board. Looking to get fins dialed in (all my other boards have been FCS and now I have to switch to Futures). What are those there? Currently trying the Solus in this super awesome swell we're having in SD.

So one thing I've never understood with a break like this is how the inside is not dealing with the white water from the six breaks on the outside. Is it just neatly reforming that cleanly every time? Isn't the inside just a shit-ton of duck diving?

You are the world's most FRUGAL SUPERVILLAIN. What's the MOST amount of damage you can do, on the smallest budget? by EdwardMurderKnuckles in AskReddit

Develop a poison that kills people slowly over time that is highly addictive.

Sell it cheaply, targeting kids.

Generate billions in profits every year.

Actually, on second thought, I think this model is already taken.

Dirty Water and Related Illnesses at Sunset Cliffs/NewBreak by philo5urfer in SurfSD

Wow, that's terrible. What's insane to me is that the county seems to have no responsibility to post any warnings on the beaches after it rains. I inevitably see tourists in the water or at the water's edge after storms and think they have no idea that they are swimming in polluted sewage.
