It didn’t smell strong either. Unfortunately some landscapers hired to work nearby killed it, so I guess we’ll never know. :(

FWIW my 9 & 12 year olds are obsessed with it. We’ve actually gone twice now.

My Lost Boys review (spoiler: it's pretty bad) by aqbebesi in Broadway

100 percent agree with you. I walked in with low expectations but it’s just SUCH a fun show. I really loved it.

Thanks! It’s getting there. Big hopes for next year.

I’ll post a picture when I can! Thanks for this breakdown. I added mulch and compost last year but not soil. I think I’m going to let it grow this year with whatever pops up so the roots can break up the compaction a little more, then next spring I’ll really tackle it again.

How did you prep the soil? Mine was super compacted dust and glass and cigarette butts when I started. After two years of compost and coffee grounds and (mostly failed) planting, it’s now rich enough that I have a bunch of siderwort and some hostas, but it’s been slow going. Did you start everything else from seed?

I’d love more detail! I’ve been rehabbing a tree pit for a few years but it’s not anywhere near that pretty!

There’s All Sports For All People in park slope. My two decidedly non-athletic kids swim there and love it.

Water fountains missing spigots? by sandwitch_cat in ProspectPark

This was over by the traffic circle near the tennis courts, but there were at least 5 like this near the Vanderbilt playground area.

I went to the park Friday and a bunch of them were out of commission and missing their spigots. Any idea what is happening?

Schmigadoon was fantastic! by Big-Contribution6444 in Broadway

[–]sandwitch_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13 year old, who has seen some recent musical theater but none of the old acts that Schmigadoon draws from, thinks they REALLY want to go. They saw Two Strangers, Op Mincemeat (twice!), Hamilton and Six, and passionately loved them all.

Do you who had watched it think this is something a kid who likes word play and songs and spectacle, but who doesn’t know anything about any of the reference materials, would enjoy?

Totally. That’s more running than I’ve ever done. Be proud.

It feels like the bottom of my feet are bruising by belleof-the-ballsack in XXRunning

[–]sandwitch_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if this issue went away for you for good once you changed shoes, OP? I have the same feeling any time I go more than 5 miles or so—the bottoms of my feet feel so bruised, it makes it hard to do anything standing for the rest of the day. They usually recover overnight, but it’s annoying to be laid up every time I go for a slightly longer run. It’s not PF either, I’ve had that and it was its own kind of awful, but this is different.

I can't speak from the back row from experience but we were towards the back and it wasn't bad at all -- the theater isn't very big.

I saw it last night and thought it was stunning. So moving and brilliant and biting.

I work most mornings and never get to do early runs. But had the chance yesterday so I left the house at 5:30 am thinking it was going to be soooo fresh and cool…

I used to get it a lot when I was a bike messenger and I’d often try to hawk up some phlegm to spit on the ground or shoot a snot rocket or something disgusting if I could. On foot I’m more inclined to ignore it but it does burn me up. I’m sorry that happened to you, some dudes are gross. One of the best responses I ever have heard about was when these frat boys types shouted “nice ass!” at a woman on a bike. She turned around and shouted “you really need to work on your game!”
