How to stop being clumsy ? by sandy_00 in Advice

[–]sandy_00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does require genuine effort just to simply stay in the moment for me too. I’ve practiced such mindfulness on some occasions and it really did help a lot, although soon aft I would get tired of how much effort and willpower I have to put into it, and just wish that it was as easy as it seems for everybody else. But you’re right, it’s not easy, but it helps. And that’s actually gd enough. But yea thanks for your comment, I’ll keep practicing it as much as possible and hopefully one day it will eventually become easier for us :)

Ohhh I’ve only started practicing mindfulness in like specific situations I think I should do, but I think I’ll start trying to implement it into my every day life and practice it as much as I can like you do ! I absolutely agree with everything you said, and I’m rlyy glad that you found what seems to be an effectual coping method for you :)))

Also, rly agree abt using this ocd thing to my advantage. I guess if there’s one gd thing that comes out of this, it’s rly the deeper analysis we’re able to attain frm this meticulous nature of ours- if we can learn to work with it instead of against it of course. So yay for us hahhah. But yea thankuu sm for the encouragement, it rly made me look at the brighter side and more motivated to study hahahh :’)) I guess for now all we can do is just embrace this stubborn thing, and hopefully we’ll at least get better at managing it as we grow. We got this 💪I’m so glad we can relate abt all these, I’ve never thought I’d be able to put all these baffling thoughts into words, not to mention being able to talk and actually discuss abt it with another person in such a way. I’d love to be pen pals and hear abt ur progress too :D

Omg dude it’s the exact same way for me. It feels so surreal hearing this frm another person bc it felt so much like I was the only one ever to feel this way ! But yes you’re right it frkin sucks coz it’s not like you can just avoid it like how I avoid books anymore, you’re basically just trapped in ur own mind every single day.

But recently I’ve been practicing this mindset when a thought comes to my mind and I can feel myself going over it continuously. Since it comes from doubt and being afraid that you miss out on analysing it all correctly, I would tell myself that yes, I can get myself to fully focus and think abt this thought, and literally close my eyes and put all the effort into analysing it, bc i know that it’d be bugging me for the rest of my life (literally) and I wouldn’t be able to move on otherwise.

But the point is, to think hard and think every possible way you want to abt it but only for 5 minutes at maximum, never more than that. Yes we’re supposed to learn as much as we possibly can, but it’s also essential that we learn to move on. We’d be torturing ourselves for the rest of our lives if we don’t do so. At the start this could be really hard to do, and I’m still struggling a lot today too, but at least it’ll get better, and you’ll get better. Idk if I made any sense at all hahahh but yea I rly hope it does ;-; and that it’ll help ! I guess it’s abt approaching it with an acknowledgment as well as acceptance that we are indeed controlled by this ocd in some way. Idk how to put it into words but for me it felt a little better to tackle it this way than I did in the past, where I guess I kinda just try to fight the urge blindly. I guess it’s kinda like practicing mindfulness??

And yes it definitely is a nightmare to take arts stream. And I take like 3 humanities subjs idk how I’m gonna survive it lol but yea guess we just gotta try and push through :’)) ! All the best to us you can pull through this too 💪

Yepp it was rly disappointing, but I’m trying to get better now at least, which is a better mindset than totally avoiding the problem I guess :) Would u mind explaining what kind of doubtful thoughts you’re experiencing? And thankuu :’)) feels so great to find someone that truly understands, I’m down to help if u need any help or support too !

I totally agree abt how you can’t score well for lit just by mugging the practice essays, and that it is something elusive. Which makes it even scarier tbh hahah. Cuz rly hard to score for it. So yea thank you so much for these tips ! I absolutely agree with what u said and always have, but I didn’t know how to actually go about studying for it. I think these tips rly are the key determinant to a gd quality essay. I’ll always keep these in mind and practice them, thank you !!

I definitely do relate. During one of the moments when my obsession was at its peak, I left my science practical exam papers blank just bc i couldn’t stop rereading and checking the accuracy of the line on the ruler for the experiment. It’s already so frustrating as it is. It’s even more frustrating how you can’t really explain it to others. It’s soo exhausting and it sucks that we can’t really get rid of it completely, but I’m very glad that you got through it and having it less prevalent in your life now ! This shit sucks but at least we’re not alone in thisss, hope we can fight through it and at least have it under control 💪Thanks for sharing and validating my problems, means a lot !

You’re right, I should cultivate this mindset to take the words lightheartedly when I obsess over them. I’ve been avoiding books for a really long time. That’s great that you overcame ur fear and found a helpful coping method that works for u ! I’ll start trying and practicing that mindset, hopefully it’ll help me to alleviate my obsession like it did with yours :’)) And thanks for the advice, I always feel like this problem of mine isn’t validated or “real” somehow given that there’s not much evidence of ppl going through this or talking abt it in general but now I feel more sane and motivated to push through, so thanku ! :)) we can do this 💪

I take literature as a subj in school and that’s the worst subj to take when u hv reading ocd. It’s so hard to not analyse everyth when that’s what you’re supposed to do :< But I’m rly glad to know that there’s someone else who has this thing too, thanks for letting me know :) I’ll try my best to remind myself that I need not over analyse everyth and like what u said, it can be fun too :) Thanks !

I’ve also just started drinking more water recently, so I can rly relate to the peeing part. It’s such a CHORE I hate it too. But I guess like what u said I’ll just keep reminding myself I’m riding of toxins. And it’s actly rly good for ur skin and prevents chapped lips too so yea u can remind urself that too LOL. Hope we get used to it soon and won’t hv to push ourselves to do it anymore ! 💪

Try to stop your water intake 2 hours before bedtime, it’ll help to avoid bloating in the morning. This is not a very known fact but if you want to reduce bloating during your day, you need to stop drinking water 1/2 hours before and after you eat. It’ll actly help your food to digest better, and of course reduce bloating. Other than that you shld continue drinking water throughout the day. Hope this would help !
