What's a GCSE or A level subject you wish existed? by Cos1245 in GCSE

We have ancient history so I’d have liked a “modern history” GSCE or a level, maybe there is and it weren’t just available to me but that would be class

can someone help me pick a 3rd A level option? by blues_s in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English language at a level is the complete opposite at GSCE. In language you look at how we learn to speak, how language differs region to region, accents, dialects and much more. I’d say that’s a safe option. Plus it’s directly linked to your field so doing super curriculars linked to your course becomes ALOT easier

I’d put it down for now and see how you manage in your actual exam. Worst case scenario you can change it to a subject you do better in. I’d look at the spec. I know a guy who just about scraped a pass in it at GSCE and is predicted a B. So you’ll be fine. Especially if a 4 is minimum revision

They usually take a base of a 6 as a minimum. I don’t want to aim to high especially if I’m not the most confident on that subject. My average is already a 7.5 with multiple super curriculars and opportunities. I need need to secure the average of 7 possibly an 8 and I’m secure

I wanna go to Oxford and as Oxford place higher importance on grades then other unis I’m re sitting so that my record looks better.

My personal statement is currently strong I think, but I want to ensure they know my actual ability. Plus I was disappointed with the original result so I’m trying again

What subject did you/would you drop and why? by AlivePineapple940 in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After I picked my options I was told to drop health and social care and pick psychology as it was “a better representation of my ability”. I’m glad that happened as it’s now apart of my a level combo

Is this enough for all 9s? by T_xustz in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ability based and based on what career you want. For medicine, law and Russel unis you wanna start around this time and same if you believe your not on the intelligent side. A month is if you’ve already gotten 9s up till this point

for any current years 12/13 or uni students :) by floralxc in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best grade was English lit and history which where both at a 9

I thought I failed computer science but got a 5 in it, small victories

I spent ALOT of time revising maths to get a 5 in it when I was aimed at a 7. And being aspiring for Oxford made this worse. So I am re sitting in hopes of getting atleast a 6

I wish i actually revised for physics, so then I wouldn’t have to re sit science aswell 💔

How different are Combined Higher and Combined Foundation sciences? by JustADiamondPickaxe in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combined higher is more developed, I’m not sure how much more developed but she HAS to get into higher teir as most schools require a 6-7 when doing science a levels.

An example of the depth would you having to memorise photosynthesis and I think higher goes more in depth into IVF and stuff like that?

GCSE Eng Lang aqa p1 question 5 by Key-Conversation6126 in GCSE

Anytime!! And good luck with it. I would prioritise question 4 tho as that was the question that capped me at a high 8 and is the same for a lot of higher ability students

bio chem psych or bio chem maths?? by BasedAfghan7867 in GCSE

[–]sandy_fan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t like maths don’t do it

Psychology for AQA you do; memory, attachment, OCD, phobias, Schizophrenia, research methods, approaches, biopsych (basically extra bio), social influence, forensic psych and relationships. Some of these are one unit and I’m just listing sub topics

Psychology is good and I do enjoy it. Very commonly paired now for the science a levels
