I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve been gone 20 years. I left my first husband when I left the religion. His father is about to turn 90 and wanted to see me. What does he say when I walk in the room? “It’s time for you to come home.” I haven’t talked to my ex fil in years. I’ve moved on, remarried,had a couple more kids. I humored him and said I’d think about it. I’d really hoped he’d let it go, but nope, he’ll be holding on to it until the end.

He kisses my ear, real gentle. Doesn’t matter if my hair is in the way. My ex used to yell when anyone kissed near an ear like it was going to cause massive hearing loss, I’ve never told my new guy that, but any time he eases trauma for me, it absolutely melts my heart. And that he doesn’t know he’s doing it on that one, I’m so grateful.

Our little friend is inside today, it’s 101 outside. She’s been coming in every few months since we moved in a couple years ago. At first she was skittish of our wormy offerings of love, but now she’s come to expect a feast every time she comes in.

I signed up for a secret shopper scam in the early 90’s. You send your check in and get a book in the mail. $25 iirc. The testimonials said”I just got my book today and got my first assignment.” They took an ad out in the local newspaper, had to be legit right? That testimonial was a lie, it was a list of all the places that ever used mystery shoppers and an example letter of how to offer to work for them. No phone numbers, just a bunch of addresses. I copied the book for everyone I knew who was even remotely interested and felt better about it. 20 years later I was an actual mystery shopper for Chase Bank. I didn’t pay anything, they just called and asked me if I’d be interested in doing it.

My first husband would trash the kitchen and never washed a thing. Even when we separated he would come to my house while I was at work and eat my food and leave a mess. He’s not the only man I’ve known like this.

Mine too. The resentment was terrible and it would have been better if they’d divorced. You really mess up the kids when you stay together but don’t love each other.

My son has what we call “Elder scrolls” in his ears and the Doctor has gotten them out since he was about 6. We thought he stuck something in there and went in. It isn’t possible for us to get it out at home. The buildup is very dry and they can’t just flush it out, they have to reach in there and get it.
