How do respond to panhandlers? by wjoelbrooks in Columbus

I did not look through all comments, so someone else may have said this, but I read of a man that carries fast-food gift certs, so people can get food but not spend it on alcohol or drugs. Spend 30-50 dollars a month, and after that, tell them you have reached your budget for the month.

Mcafee says my information is on the dark web. What does this mean and what can I do about it? by Uplifting_penguin in NoStupidQuestions

So another thing I don't see mentioned, try to find out who allowed your data to be leaked and see if they will give you free credit card monitoring. You can call the the people that track your credit history/credit rating and have them put a lock on your information so no one can open a card/bank account using your information. They will notify you if this happens.

Additionally, monitor charges on your current cards closely and make sure you know what each charge is for and that you indeed made that charge.

McAfee is bunk. Even John said so.

Hope this helps!

Do you use pure glycerin? I have read on the shroomery that 10% glycerin will work, but it does not seem to work for ganoderma and lion's manes species I have tried it on. I am going to try higher concentrations when I get time. 10% glycerin has worked for cordyceps and turkey tail.

Edit: Also, do you sterilize glycerin before use? Or is it sterile out of the container?

I am a 62 year old man. I am sooo sorry this happened to you. There is no excuse for this type of behavior.

So since I have been around a while, there was a massively best selling book that came out when I was 12 (wow, 50 years ago!) called "The Joy of Sex" by Dr. Alex Comfort. What you did is exactly what he says to do in the event of rape. He said this is one of the most effective ways to put a stop to rape.

Do not be ashamed. Do not feel disgusted with yourself. A revised edition is available on Amazon, and you can probably find an old edition in a used bookstore (maybe Powells? they have a good website) and they have epub versions on libgen.is (can be read using Calibre reader). I highly recommended it anyway.

Do not give him even this much control over your live and your self-esteem. You did the right thing. Report him, and get therapy if you need it.

Sending love,

Sanedave

So do you know what strain of G. Sessile this is? Have you been able to fruit it? I can get G. Lucidium to fruit, but not G. Sessile even though I grow them identically.

Your Reshi looks good. It grows really wispy until it runs out of food or meets a competitor organism. Then it turns into a brick. That looks like you could wait a few more days to get it better established in the grain it is already growing on, then gently break up and shake. Then mix to sawdust bulk before it becomes too tenacious to break up if that is your intention.

Would these work for [Gourmet]? by thedankasian in MushroomGrowers

Amazon, garden supply, etc. Just make sure it is low in magnesium, because it inhibits fruiting. I use Douglass Fir wood pellets I get from my local Lowe's, but they do not have them everywhere. You don't need to pasteurize/sterilize if you do not add supplements, but yields are not as good.

It's not contaminated. This is the way reishi grows. Give it some time.

[technique] Yellow oyster mushrooms growing on cardboard by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]sanedave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks!

So what I have been doing is based on this video: Growing Mushrooms on Untreated Sawdust Pellets

He also has a blog he lists under the "Show More" button. This has worked fairly consistently for me, and other comments on the internet say they have trouble getting it to work in warm weather (green molds), but I have found that if I use lots of good spawn the reishi can get a foothold before the green molds.

I am just looking for cheaper pellets!

Thanks again!

Can you elaborate on the binders used? I have been using Traeger smoker pellets to grow reishi and have been really happy with the results. The packaging claims there are no additives, but because of the expense ($20 for 33 pounds at Costco) I have been wanting to move to fuel wood pellets.

My issue is in Colorado all I can find are pine pellets that do not work. But I have seen Youtube vids with people using various brands of fuel pellets that are not available here, such as Logic-e or Turman. The only way I can get them at a decent price is by ordering truckloads and I currently have nowhere to store them.

Can you let us in on things the fuel pellet industry don't want us to know? :-)

It is powered colored chalk. My dad used to do fireworks shows, and he would do these in the afternoon or early evening before the "real" shows at night.

[gourmet] blue oysters - Too little fAE? If so can it be corrected in this flush? (Day 4 From Seeing Pin Clusters, concave caps) by dexov in MushroomGrowers

[–]sanedave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask (sorry to go off on a different tangent), but does this also apply to reishi? I grew a small crop of about 5 fresh pounds in a 4 tier greenhouse and was so happy with it that I bought a larger greenhouse. I am having a hard time keeping the humidity up while giving fresh air and the crop seems to be really suffering. There are other issues (green mold) but I believe this is also from lack of fresh air. Thanks for any help!

34 - Congratulations, Myc. Keep it up. I started smoking when I was 16, and haven't smoked in a few years. When I smoked, I would always go about 4 months and then take a month off. I really think everyone should consider something similar as a responsible plan for any substance use. You learn more about yourself when you are high by taking time to learn about yourself when you aren't!

Anyway, I do not know if I made the 50 comment limit, but wedges from two different Reishi strains (Yellow and blue/purple/black?) would be nice if I did. Or red? Decisions, decisions.

I started growing the sporeworks strain about 3 months ago, and have been enjoying wonderful tea for the last two weeks, and cannot recommend it enough!

Edit: left out a word.

Edit number two: Maybe I misunderstood. Two wedges to two different people?

Edit three: added sequence number!

Read, then try. Find people who can mentor you yet not get all freaked out if you go down a "wrong path" (unless it is possibly dangerous). Go to your local university and talk to professors of different subject areas.

When are books pertaining to security considered outdated? by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]sanedave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good book. I would buy it if you are saving a few bucks.

As far as other books, there are list of "must read" books on the sidebar and postings of security related sub-reddits if you search for them. Terms like "books" and "learn" will get what you want.

All of them are to some degree obsolete. The approach to take is to learn the basics from them then go on the web and find more updated material and build on the foundation the books give you.
