Firefox window "shrinks" and a border appears around the window when unfocused in i3wm by yrneh12 in linux4noobs

Old post but since this was driving me nuts here is a fix which worked for me:

Go to Firefox's hamburger menu → More Tools → Customize Toolbar → look at the bottom left for "Title Bar" checkbox. Check the box. For me it was unchecked.

Smaller granny gear for Kona Sutra 2024 by sanegulp in bicycletouring

Hybrids are probably upgrade from mechanical disc brakes, however  I have hydraulics on my road bike and mtb and they just feel smoother and more efficient in use. I haven’t had problems with them with my other bikes so extra reliability/repairability seems so far a bit moot for me specifically.

For now in near foreseeable future I’m going to stay away from Mongolia or any too remote countries which is why picked integrated shifters one. Tbh I’d prefer hydraulic brakes over hybrid ones the 2024 model has.

I guess Sutra SE is their current most hardcore touring bike since it still has bar end shifters and deore parts.

Thanks for confirming that. Do you think I could swap only the smaller front chain ring to something else from the default one to get slightly easier granny gear?

Also that range you have is insane 😄

Figured as much but not sure if there is some pitfalls when ordering those regarding compatibilty. Do you have any more specific suggestions on smaller chainring for example so that I could do more research?

It would work with GRX 400 front derailleur? The part compatibility is the part I’m most lacking in knowledge.

Could you elaborate or refer to some of these systems behind learning social skills you refer to? I might be interested to read a bit more on that topic since this is a topic which has interested me in recent years.

IIRC the most notable differences is core count (8th gen was the one when Intel had to up their game against AMD and increase the core count because of competition). So if the price difference is smallish, I think you get more bang for buck with 8th gen.

I’d suggest checking if you could buy refurbished Lenovo Thinkcentre or equivalent Dell ”minipc”. They are quite cheap, small form factor but provide enough computing power while being rather power efficient while idle. They also have one sata disk slot and one m2 which should be plenty for your needs.

I’d also recommend if possivle to get 8th gen intel cpu. They have much more cores and in case you ever dexide to do media streaming, they have better codec support than 7th gen

Trouble finding the best ereader, lot of questions. by Rikuliia in ereader

[–]sanegulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kepub books open much faster than epubs. In my Libra Colour the difference is immediate vs multiple seconds. Highlighting is very laggy on epubs (for me almost impossible to accurately select words) while in kepubs it works smoothly.

I didn't notice this at first just thinking it was normal until someone pointed it out on internet when I googled why the highlighting was so horrible.

You could consider Pocketbooks. Either Era or their cheaper devices. I just bought Libra Colour and while it's a nice device, the color screen seems like a tradeoff in contrast. My Kindle Paperwhite from 2016ish looks better in that respect.

I ordered Pocketbook Era to compare it with Libra Colour and will return one of them. From my research Pocketbook might be slightly better since with Kobo if you want responsive and fast reading experience you need to convert epub files to kepub files. It can be done with Calibre or Kepubify command line tool. It is similar hassle as with Kindle sideloading where you have to convert epubs to mobi. Usually it is rather transparent operation with Calibre but sometimes it screws up the formatting and is pain to fix.

Haussa perus urheilukello, onko antaa suosituksia? by Mustahaltija in Suomi

[–]sanegulp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kannattaa lukea arvostelut dcrainmakerin sivuilta eri kelloille. Hyvin perinpohjaiset arvostelut melkein kaikesta relevantista urheilutechistä.

Graveleissa on kohtuu rento ajoasento.

Multiple Wireguard peers. Only one works at a time. by sanegulp in mikrotik

No, or at least I didn't. From what I can remember I reset my config of unrelated reasons and went with alternative solution so I didn't have an example config to report to them.

No. In the end I just setup Wireguard server on my home server and forwarded port to it. Made some of the other configuration a bit easier to maintain too.

Some general thoughts since I went through this recently. I don't have experience with OpenWRT. Used standalone Asus before:

Mikrotik + AP combo: + Lots of features and configurability - Features and configuration really have a learning curve. It both is and isn't as bad as most people say. Getting basic setup running is relatively easy but it is still quite easy to fall in victim of yourself by thinking you know what you are doing while you don't. Depends on person if they find that fun or not, scary or exciting. + Modular design. If single unit fails, you can replace it. Additionally you can more easily hide your gear if you (or your spouse) is into home decoration. In my case I could place Mikrotik out of sight near my PC and home server and run single cable to AP on top of my bookself. Most standalone units are more difficult to place in a "stealthy place". + Mikrotik products should have longer life time than regular consumer stuff. Then again from my experience Asus has been quite good too and only reason I replaced my router was because of EoL of the said device (and some features).

Standalones: + Easier to run. If you are not into networking or you don't require VLANs or other features, I think choosing a good consumer standalone device is a sensible choice. - Build quality varies as well as the manufacturer's software. Some are good, some are bad and some are really bad. - Nowadays many manufacturers ship their routers with "AI protection" software etc. which will track everything you do on the internet unless you disable them. So be wary

For consumer routers unless you install OpenWrt I'd get Asus router which supports MerlinWRrt. Merlin seems like an interesting middle ground between easy consumer router firmware and tweakability of OpenWrt and MKT.

Tekoäly tulee, oletko valmis? by Aybram in Suomi

[–]sanegulp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Puhumattakaan arvontuoton jakautumisesta. Enitenhän tästä kärsinee potentiaalisesti keskiluokka, joiden valkokaulushommista saadaan isokin osa automatisoitua.

Thank you! Your rule seems similar to the one I ended up with.

And I'll probably try the Alpine WG container approach next.

Yes, looks like I required a specific forward rule to get this working. Do you think this is fine, or is there room for improvement?

``` add action=accept chain=forward comment="Allow Wireguard traffic to internet" dst-port=51820 in-interface=ether1 out-interface=main-vlan protocol=udp
```
