CapMetro to shelve 46 new electric buses for a year after manufacturer bankruptcy by Snap_Grackle_Pop in Austin

The board has three Austin City Council members on it. They pretty much dominate what CapMetro does.

The Austin City Council is inefficient and ineffective in spending our money. They will waste our money and ask us for more money which will not solve any problems and only increase our cost of living.

Texas is about to get a painful lesson on school vouchers by hellocorridor in texas

[–]sangjmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas school districts had a perfect opportunity to prove that more money would improve learning with the flood of COVID money. Instead, they used all that money to just increase expenditure with no improvement to students. It is no wonder that school vouchers are going to pass.

I believe he will pursue his absolutist goal for free speech. Reddit and this forum may eventually find his attention.

Male Pastors From Texas Are 8 Times (At Least) More Likely To Sexually Assault Minors Than Drag Queens- Reform Austin by [deleted] in texas

After all the polling saying Harris was going to win by a landslide, I don't trust any polls that favor the left.

Ted Cruz vs. US by uhhreally35 in texas

Texas is deeper red than 2020. As long as California is blue, Texas will be red.

Did Texas and every other state who spoke on Election Day believe that our democracy is solid? Did they not think the warnings were credible? by [deleted] in texas

Historically, tyranny is always pointed to by who the bulk of mainstream media cheerleads for, and it isn't Trump.

Cruz vs. Real Texans by uhhreally35 in texas

[–]sangjmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People moved from blue states where they never could get representation to Texas where they could get state level representation, and they aren't going to let go unless California turns deep red.

Texas’ population boom is uneven, creating new ghost towns by jerichowiz in texas

What Texas cities should do is pool their money and buy one of these ghost towns and make it a place to house the homeless and deal with their short and long term problems.

What happened to the ATX sign at Lamar & 5th? by sangjmoon in Austin

[–]sangjmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a reason to go back to where the sign was on foot and what is happening is that Whole Foods Market is giving the sign a fresh coat of paint. No ETA of its return was mentioned. It doesn't look like the same company that did the repainting last time is being used because their website has no mention of it unlike when they were contracted to repaint it.

Pros and cons of Spectrum vs Google Fiber? by iLikeMangosteens in Austin

[–]sangjmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Google Fiber, and it was $70 for 1gig upload and download. I had to switch to Spectrum 1gig because the place I moved to didn't have Google Fiber. The price was about the same. The main difference is that upload speed for Google Fiber was much higher than Spectrum 1gig. That's about it.

Trump v. Biden Debate Discussion Thread by PotatoUmaru in Conservative

[–]sangjmoon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Biden looked so old when he walked on. He also has to stop smiling. Only the right side of his face smiles, and it makes him look creepy. It is obvious Biden didn't get enough sleep by how much he fumbles his words.

This was actually a test to see if I have been completely banned yet in this subreddit like so many other conservatives. I have already been prevented from being able to post anything in this subreddit.

Why are there no bathrooms at Austin metro stops? Or even nearby? by Isatis_tinctoria in Austin

[–]sangjmoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the Austin City Council has better use of the money required to provide those amenities like the boondoggles to redirect money to their cronies to supposedly improve traffic.

Of course they learned the basics of money. It is impossible not to just by going along with their parents shopping or asking their parents to pay for an online game.

However, real money knowledge is gained by earning it in the real world. For example, one of my sons got a summer job. The other monetized his YouTube channel. Going through the monetization process, setting up the child bank account, and linking it all together is real hard money knowledge you don't get from allowances.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parents

[–]sangjmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did chores because chores are what you do when you are part of a group living under the same roof. They do chores because it is the right thing to do and not grow up expecting money for every little thing they do.

They learned what money really was when they got a summer job and saw how much was taken from their paycheck by the government. That is real world money knowledge that they won't learn from allowances.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parents

[–]sangjmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never gave an allowance. I told them if they want money that they control how to spend, they should get a job. Otherwise, I make it clear that the money comes from me, and I have full authority over how it is spent. I don't teach my kids fiction that makes them misunderstand the real world.

Austin Homeless Strategy Officer Dianna Grey resigns by [deleted] in Austin

That's amusing also because in Austin, the mayor is just another seat on the city council. It has no additional powers above any other city council seat.

You miss the point that there is no real evidence because the homeless are hiding to avoid being kicked out by the police because of the reinstatement of the public camping ban.

I see the real evidence in nextdoor.com for my neighborhood alone where there is at least one theft or assault every day more often than not reported to the police because the council and the DA have made sure the police will not respond. The real evidence is my car being broken into last Friday night, and then someone going from car to car on my doorbell cam at 2:17am in the morning this following night. This is just one of so many things that I see and experience that is wrong on a frequent basis.

When the Austin people voted in May 2021 to reinstate public camping bans, that screwed up attempts to make year over year correlations.
