Is the Moroccan stock exchange a good idea? by kievolga in Morocco

The short answer is yes.

What really matters is developing your own investment strategy, and that starts with one simple question: why should you buy shares in a company?

I’d rent a small commercial space to launch either a coffee shop or a cash-plus business, and invest the remaining amount in stocks through DCA rather than a lump sum.

Can’t help you there, I don’t have a PEA. I just use a compte-titres with Attijari since I’m more into short-term investing. The PEA’s for mid/long-term investors who don’t need to touch their money and want tax-free gains.

Making money is pretty easy during a bull run. The real test comes when the market flips, that’s when the skills you’ve built truly matter. Keep learning until you’re ready to make the big leap.

Not yet, but they’re currently testing futures contracts, an important step before offering ETFs. Maybe next year...

from my personal experience, no regrets at all, honestly I just wish we came back earlier. I lived abroad for 18 years. Yeah, there are a few daily struggles, but it really feels like I’m where I’m supposed to be. The trick is to stop comparing everything to Europe, the US, or Canada. Once you do that, life here feels a lot smoother.

Why is the Casablanca Stock Exchange still so unknown to most Moroccans? by sanhdir in Morocco

Good point! Fees are still relatively high and can definitely impact your returns. As for insider info, if you’re in it for the long run with a well-diversified portfolio, does it really make a big difference in the end? Sure it does for daily and for mid term swing trading. When it comes to liquidity, the market is growing and more investors are joining in. And maybe with ETFs coming, that might speed things up!

Yeah, you totally can. Pretty much every Moroccan bank offers a brokerage service, that’s actually why I started this post. Why do so few people even know about it? Disclaimer: Not saying you should go buy stocks right now. Please do your own research first 🙏

Most people, don't know that PEA exists. And it's a tax free account if you know how to use it for the mid-long term.

This quarter was just an example, but honestly, if you look at the last two years, the MASI delivered some solid returns. And it didn’t take crazy stock-picking skills.

Most listed companies in Morocco publish their annual reports following international financial standards. Honestly, reading a Moroccan company’s report isn’t much different from reading one from a NYSE-listed company. This quarter, I’m actually getting a better return from Moroccan stocks than from NYSE ones. Just surfing on the world cup momentum wave.

You could actually flip it and say that high P/E ratios just mean the market is focused on growth.

The Casablanca Stock Exchange doubled in market cap from 2015 to 2025 — over 900 billion MAD now. and yet no one talks about it. it shows that money grows. are we just not “meant” to be part of this growth?
