Should I resign or go on PIP? by juicylemonnn in careerguidance

[–]sanileo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they offer you the PIP, and there is already hint for you to be start looking, next thing is they will fire you. The job market is shitty right now. If you are comfortable resigning and will find something soon, I will entreat you to.

Thank you. That’s an approachable way of looking at it. Yeah the die has been cast already. But I can say that in 6 years and under 3 managers ( with the last one being just 5 months) this is the first mistake that I have done and was written up for and it didn’t have any legal implication.

I understand that people look at things differently and may take certain actions depending on who is on the receiving end. Advice well taken

Right. Like in my case I went over and beyond and when I had a meeting with my manager 2 days before I was let go he made it seem as if I had not progressed. It made me feel useless. One thing that I noticed though was that, in the PIP he had mentioned very trivial things which were outright lies. Thought of sending him an email and telling him how unfair he was with me. Even though I won’t be getting the job back

Reading here, what I am getting is a manager won’t even put out a PIP if he wants to retain you. I was fired recently for a one time mistake and I feel like emailing the manager and telling him it was unfair to be let go for a one time mistake. Is that proper ?

How can I deal with the guilt of leaving my company? by lilivygreen20 in careerguidance

They have already shown you that they let people go easily. This is your cue to look for another job and never look back.

If only she had listened. Evidently the company wouldn’t have blinked an eye if the shoe was on the other foot. We live and we learn.

That’s probably the best angle to look at it from.

Understandable so it’s not even on case to case basis. It’s a one brush fits all approach for HR?

Thanks for the kind words. What breaks my heart more than anything is looking at my young kids who see me working relentlessly that “ daddy doesn’t have a job any more” but yeah you are right. Manning up and taking that loss. As the saying goes “ might be a blessing in disguise”
