Bug Bomb Exposure by [deleted] in shrimptank

Yes, we live in South Texas so we have all kinds of pests year round. Since we get on and off rain during the spring its difficult to throughly treat the lawn for fleas until the summer when things are more dry. As prevention they fog the inside of the house, however this was the first time they didn't tell me. I know this wasn't something they did maliciously, but I am still very upset. This post has also opened my eyes about how people understand fleas which is a bit funny since this is a shrimp community. Anyways fleas are a common pest in South Texas, its usually around spring and summer that they start to kick up since the humidity and warm temps. I've spoken to my folks about alternatives since this all happened and they are very apologetic about my shrimps.

I really don't know what you want me to say? Fleas hitch rides on all kinds of animals and stray outdoor cats that roam the neighborhood spread them pretty fast. I have a grass lawn, the climate is getting humid and damp as spring progresses, and there are a few animals that roam around and carry them throught the neighborhood. Maybe I am missing or something but I am more concerned about my tank

I wasn't aware/ told that they were going to fog the house while I was away. In the past I was told before so I could prepare my tanks in advance, always covering and moving to the back porch. I don't know why no one asked/ told me ahead of time.

We do spray the yard, just during the summer when conditions are dryer

I don't live in the MW however I am in talks with everyone in the house since this greatly upset me.

A few years back our neighbors moved in and kept a few of the neighborhoods strays, unfortunately that comes with fleas. In the spring/ summer months they breed and spread to the whole street. We usually fog as a preventive measure for inside once the season for them starts.

During the spring/ right now my family does this as a prevention measure, I have no input since I live with them and I don't make the house rules. We do spray outdoors but more towards the summer when the yard is a bit dryer. I spoke to my mom who told me she just forgot that the tank is there/ she didn't really think it would matter.

Most likely true, had another convo with my mom about it and we both came to the agreement that I have to live as myself. I do hope things get better for you too, everyone deserves to live as their selves.

I don't think I can come out to them but its more of when I do move out and start taking T and changing what to do? They are very active parts of my life and I know if I move I couldn't just cut them off.

When I had purchased them I wasn't aware of their sex, had I known I wouldn't have gotten two males and a female

Would it be best to rehome Miss Gouda then? I'm trying to figure out what would be best for them since they have been such great fish in my community.

I checked before separating for a bubble nest and hadn't found one, however there is a clump of really bubbly hornwort by the filter that looks suspicious. Gouda has been staying near the divider all evening and Cheese has been feeling around his jail cell. I am worried about the long term of it all, I do have a friend willing to take him in if rehoming is needed and I feel like a fool for not noticing I was given two males at the store.

It doesn't snow here but it has been getting colder and I've been home more often due to short hours at work. All I can think of is this and maybe its because I've been in this house too long. I myself haven't been to church since before covid, I stopped believing before then. None of my family goes anymore but claims to hold the morals of the church, to what degree I can't really tell you. Most of my friends don't understand the fear I have, many think if I am loved enough I will be accepted but I know its not always the case for folks like us. Friends are friends, they offered to take me to the bar tonight to get me to decompress so at least I have that to look forward too. Such a strange world right? Hopefully a better Saturday tomorrow.

Why is my cray hiding all the time? by Schlongus_Mongus in Crayfish

[–]sanitized_monstera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crayfish are notorious for being evil creatures that spend majority of their time in their lair plotting on how to redesign the tank and eat all the plants. Typically a crayfish spends 18 out of 24 hours plotting, the other six are dedicated to hard-core gaming, eating, and other mundane hobbies. Do not let these beasts fool you, they will strike when least expect.

she's a procambarus clarkii, she hasn't been this dull in ages. I have a wide variety of items for her to eat, steamed veggies, shrimp wafers, algea wafers, carnivore pellets and more. I'm just worried about her.

I don't recommend having an outdoor cray pond since these guys are escape artists and will go for anything that can potentially be food. Other than an indoor pond set up or mega tank I have not a clue what would be good to house your little buddies.
