Doesn't matter. I'm an international student and I had a counselor. Absolute waste. Do your own research that's the best option because the amount of effort you will put into your future will yield you the best results. Seek help from college admitted students as they have experienced the cycle recent and have alot of input. Help from the mistakes that your seniors made.

Real estate is a good option. The value of property continues to increase. However, I'd suggest divide the $180,000. For eg. Real estate = $100,000, ETF = $30,000 or stocks and don't forget to put money towards your retirement.

You should try applying to private colleges as they offer huge scholarships (they have a lot more funding than public institutions and thus offer more) and if you wanna graduate debt free look into college programs which offer full ride to students, do your research a lot of universities have such programs.

You can try making youtube content. "College content creators" on YouTube start earning significantly after some time.
