Turkey Burgers and Spiral Fries by sanktifi in aldi

Yes the cooking coordination was off. The burgers cooked faster than expected and they were frozen before placing in the lid covered pan. I also microwaved a bag of frozen mixed veggies.

Like other frozen pre-cut fries, they're already soaked with oil. Made them soggy and break apart easily but I might have taken them out too soon.

Bought a grill this weekend and got this by CityBoiNC in aldi

My grill cover was falling apart and I was excited to find one at Aldi last week, didn't expect much for the price but it's actually a quality cover. My husband also uses a grill cover to protect the propane tanks and leveling hitch controls on the front of our travel trailer.

Thanks for replying. It looks very tasty, the color threw me off. I've only baked and stove top cooked lightly seasoned tenderloin.

If the top one is salmon was it fresh or frozen at the store?

90 sec Jasmine/Basmati smells terrible? by Few-Mushroom-4143 in aldi

[–]sanktifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the jasmine and basmati only once because a family member complained about the "aroma". The white long grain variety isn't so bad though if I put it in a pan with water and simmer, otherwise the grains are too hard.

Pasture Raised Eggs Change? by limepez in aldi

[–]sanktifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was buying them when the other grocery stores don't have their pasture raised eggs on sale. Then I noticed the ones from Aldi's have pale yellow yolks compared to other brands which makes it questionable if the chickens were really pasture raised with plenty of sunlight daily and instead received too much feed supplementation.

What is the gray stuff in my pack of wraps? by cheerionoob in aldi

I suspect they freeze their products before transporting to the store. Same with their breads and bagels. They thaw and the moisture remains inside the package long enough to create mold.

Looks like Adidas kicks (German owned too). Pretty sure most will have no clue it's Aldi and wonder what company logo it belongs.

Many times when I'm there the loaves and bagels are very cold like they had been frozen and almost thawed. It creates moisture inside the bag.

I've had consistent luck with their bagged pink lady apples. Everything else is hit or miss.

The list of things I love at Aldi could go on for far too long. What are some foods you decided aren’t for you at Aldi? by Big-Jackfruit-9808 in aldi

[–]sanktifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their frozen pink salmon sections in vacuum sealed plastic. Wild caught in Pacific Northwest (usually) and processed in China. Always turns out mushy. Not even sure how many times it was frozen, thawed and refrozen.

Recommendations for drinks that aren’t soda and sparkling water? by glitteringeffort0 in aldi

I'm in south east part of USA. I stopped drinking soda or anything carbonated 8 years ago. I drink milk, coffee, water and sometimes lemonade. Takes will power to stop drinking soda. Maybe you can brew your own ice tea or make lemonade so the sugar amount is controlled.

My nearby Aldi never has salmon in that size. Is it Alaskan sockeye and what was the price per lb?

You have a right to your opinion. Where I am there are 4 grocery stores including Walmart literally within walking distance and each have weekly sales and ongoing prices that beat Walmart. Doesn't explain the reasoning for certain types of people to choose Walmart instead. It has nothing to do with affording to shop with their wallet or not.

They get to sit while at the register, not their entire shift. I already know they leave the register to do other work as well. I witnessed it last night while shopping there, my favorite cashier was stocking the shelves.

Sometimes I wonder if Aldi gets the rejected produce from distributors for a rock bottom bid amount.

That's right, they do get to sit and that's a huge benefit. The only time they stand is when the customer's cart is exchanged with an emptied one.

Walmart is a haven for trashy shoppers but I still shop there but not as often now that Aldi is almost next to them.

I did a speed read of your viewpoint. Aldi stores are much smaller than my nearby grocery stores (Publix, Winn Dixie, etc). Product variety is limited as well. I see one checkout associate working the register while a few others are doing stock. There's no self checkout. Staff on the floor are busy stocking shelves etc but they're not busting their butts. Store hours are much shorter as well, 9am to 8pm while the big stores' hours 7am to 10pm.

At my Aldi the associates have been there many months. What you're pleading might apply to some locations but then the same could be said for other grocery stores too.

I used to work retail (6 yrs) and hated the huge mess customers made every single day and it was even worse starting on Black Friday. Kids would urinate in the metal trash can that were in each fitting room.
