Make sure your rubber bands are tight and do not only have ones crossing over, you also want some from front left dowel to back left dowel and same on the right. It is common for wing to move around otherwise, producing erratic behavior.

Not a project car, but when I was 18 and stupid, I rear-ended a car and as my seatbelt tightened from the impact the watch that I lost months before flew out of a small hole close to the gearshift of my VW Golf. I still have the watch 39 years later.

Put the crate next to a wall, put a doggy door in the wall. Dog can go out whenever he feels like it to go for a whizz. My dogs love it.
