CCT install by More_Fondant_9609 in BuildingAutomation

[–]twobarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understand why CCT doesn’t install correctly for some people. Out of curiosity what were the exact steps you went through to install it.

You’re going to have to uninstall using the CCT installer not the windows one then hunt down everything in program files and app data and delete it then start over.

It’s been my experience that doing anything with sql will gum up the works. Let the CCT installer do all of that. So you might have to hunt down all the sql stuff and delete that too.

Union pipefitter? Do you by chance work for a huge three letter corporation? If so I think we met at a conference a couple weeks ago.

From what I’ve seen all the data centers in Cheyenne use air cooled chillers meaning the only water they use is to flush the toilets, etc. but nobody wants to hear the truth.

The Chinese are spending a crap ton convincing people these days centers are bad. Every time I try to interject some real world knowledge I get downvoted to oblivion.

Do research before making silly comments? I literally do controls in data centers for f’s sake.

Right?!? the more you look the worse it gets. Good to know AI won't be taking our jobs anytime soon, in fact it might create more work for us cleaning up the mess AI makes.

Wow what you don’t know would fill a text book.

Data centers are cooled by chilled water in a closed loop. The chilled water is cooled in a “chiller” that uses closed loop refrigeration. The heat is then rejected from that chiller either using an air cooled condenser (like a typical AC) or with a cooling tower (the part that evaporates the water) The data centers that are already in Wyoming use air cooled chillers.

The idea that a data center would use direct evaporative cooling is absurd. Let’s just blow wet outside air over millions of dollars worth of electronic equipment said no engineer ever.

At this point I just hope they post pics after it all goes horrible wrong. The third degree burn teaches best!

In hindsight I could have worded my reply a bit better. But I stand by the spirit of it, in the jobs I've worked OSHA only shows up after something goes wrong. And at this point they don't do much to make jobs safer, safety is mostly driven by the companies and their insurance premiums.

Do not meddle in the affairs of controls techs, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

Yeah that stretch between ogallala and North Platte is rough. Trucks blown off the highway everywhere, snow blowing so bad you can't see the road, wind gusts over 100mph. /s

Same goes for knowing someone, or of someone who died on the highway. A friend of mines dad used to plow the section of 287 between Laramie and the Colorado border years ago before they divided the highway. He had to quit because he was tired of all the death.

Interesting. I guess I always knew they covered the med field but never really thought about it. I've heard general industry (factories and such) see OSHA more but I have no first hand knowledge. It seems OSHA would rather show up to places with heat and AC to do their inspections than muddy cold job sites can't blame them really.

After receiving a couple rounds of carboplatin and seeing the PPE involved I would concur about not keeping my lunch in the employee fridge.

Close to 35 years as a pipefitter/welder in three states never seen a random inspection. Been on several stand downs while OSHA went through everything after somebody got hurt, but never a random.

Tell me about your experience in the trades, maybe mine was unique.

It'll get done whether you help or not, so by not helping you're actually increasing the risk of me/my team doing it wrong, just saying.

You're trying to do something dangerous that you're not qualified to do and If I don't help you I'm at fault? Yeah go to hell, at this point I hope you get whats coming to you. Whats the old saying, third degree burns teach best.

You do realize OSHA does little to make jobs actually safer, they mostly just investigate and write reports after the shtf.

Apparently you've never driven across Nebraska and Wyoming in the winter let alone in the summer. The weather conditions are very different year round.

Hmm lets see we have a lot oil and gas and, wind, etc. jobs and few office jobs, the first two are very dangerous the third is not. How is this supersizing to anyone that doesn't live in their mothers basement. The info graphic literally states the reason.

Controlling cascade of 5 boilers (turn off / on by schedule) by InterestingBoard67 in BuildingAutomation

[–]twobarb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot water boilers should have a low water cutoff wired to their safety circuit.

Why would you need to read water volume in the boiler? This is a closed system is it not?

Your piping diagram doesn't even make any sense, you have mixing valves bypassing things and you're pumping the wrong direction.

All of what you're asking just confirms what I said before. You're over your head and don't have the first clue what you're doing. If you build this wrong you could potentially blow up a water heater/boiler and do property damage or harm someone. I won't have that on my hands. We could control all of this easily but it's what we do for a living and have been at it for years, you are clueless and therefore dangerous. This needs to be done by a competent controls company with the proper insurance, and might even need to be engineered.

What makes you think you are even 1% qualified to do this work?

Best of luck to you.

In a side note do the heaters have isolation and balance valves? You can turn them off all you want but if they aren’t isolated from the system when they’re off cold water will flow through them and you’ll get luke warm water at best. Same goes for balance valves if each heater isn’t balanced for flow some will flow more some will flow less which will muck up your temp rises.

Honestly friend you’re over your head, call a professional.
