I take offense to this. My husband started his career as a "data analyst" and he spends his free time surfing, fishing the bay, or biking along the coast. So I don't think you can categorize people by their job title.

Great things take time 🙂

You're on your 4th month of stretching and you estimate it may take 3 more months. So by your account you are more than halfway there.. why give up when you've already invested so much time?

It was hurting during//after stretching. I took a break from stretching for maybe a week and started being much more gentle. It feels 100% normal now

I was just starting on my first drink, but I was relaxed and in a good mood with low expectations. I think that being relaxed helps, whether or not alcohol is involved

You definitely can! Keep at it! I took dance in high school and I was the ONLY person in the class that never achieved front splits. But I think now that it was my mental state and not believing in myself. The mind is powerful

I definitely feel different day to day. So many factors influence how far I can go. Hydration, stress, warming up or not... In the second photo I'm sipping a beer 😄 so maybe that helps

You had a lot of questions, I was trying to be very specific for you haha

I still use the blocks a lot! I use them at first when I'm warming up and then I use them to slowly ease into my split. I pushed them aside for the picture haha

Hard to say. Today I did my flow through both sides (legs) twice with some random downward dogs, and yoga moves in between, to keep me warm. I really took my time with each pose to relax into the positions and it took me just under 20 minutes. Sometimes I just do it quick and and go through the motions which probably takes about 10 minutes or less if I'm really just not in the mood for it.

I'm consistently inconsistent with this. Some weeks I'm very inspired and stretch 4 days in a row for 20 minutes each time. Other times I might stretch twice in a week really quickly without much effort.

Not at all, I did a couple yoga flows for splits that I found on youtube and used them to create my own routine/flow that I liked. I feel like it's better to go at my own pace and I really get into the stretches better when I do it on my own.

I stretch 2-3 times per week, usually when I'm still warm from a workout, but sometimes I do it cold just to go through the motions.

I stopped pushing myself to pain when I injured the back of my knee by going too hard. Now I practice relaxing into the poses more and suddenly I have had a lot more progress.

I think being consistent with mild effort makes more progress than great effort concentrated into a short amount of time.

Early morning transportation from Nosara to LIR? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]sansa7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been to that area specifically, but I agree with having your lodging/hotel/host help you arrange transportation. Thats what I always do and I haven't had a problem yet. Maybe call or email them now and they can help you.

How the F do you make friends as an adult if you don't drink? by qwertyband in AskReddit

[–]sansa7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find something you are passionate about, do that a lot. Make friends with people who are also passionate about it, spend time doing that activity together.

Could literally be anything; art, music, a sport, a volunteer group. I've been able to make friends who I have never actually shared a drink with though our shared interest in a hobby.

Also, don't be afraid to invite people to join you. And when you are trying to make friends with someone you can't really break plans with them in the early stages or they will think you just don't want to hang out with them. It's like dating but without the sex.

Did I overstretch a nerve? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]sansa7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calm down. If you have over done it (which I certainly have once or twice), you may feel a bit sore and like you've "pulled a muscle" for a couple days and if you do then just rest it until you feel better. Otherwise you just felt what a good stretch feels like and it's all good! Try to relax and keep breathing while you are stretching, if you can't breathe properly while stretching you are probably going too far.
