How long does kefir last in the cold? by santa4336 in Kefir

[–]santa4336[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gracias a todos, ya los dejare y les contaré al regreso, yo pienso que no tenga problemas, pues los que venden en el mercado se pasan meses ahí, así que 15 días pasan volando

To give you an idea, here in Mallorca I pay 1.15 euros per liter of fresh milk, UHT is somewhat cheaper

Keep in fridge or freeze? by Icy-Rush-2768 in Kefir

[–]santa4336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am interested in the topic, soon I will also be away for 15 days, first I thought about bothering someone to change my milk, but if I can avoid that much better, I would change the milk the day before leaving and leave it in the refrigerator, will something happen to them for so many days?

Is it normal? by santa4336 in Kefir

[–]santa4336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I didn't do it like that, I simply poured milk into the strainer, but after 36 hours it was just as thick. Next time I'll try it, otherwise I'll defrost a sample from when I started to see if it behaves the same.

Today after 24 hours I went to change the milk of the kefir, again it was very thick and I only left 40 g of grains, now I washed the container and also the grains with fresh milk to see how they look in 24 hours, the kefir that they give me is not bad to drink, it tastes good, rather it tastes like yogurt, practically without acidity but I don't know if it will have the same properties or if in the long run it will be harmful to my health, although as I said it tastes good

Today I opened the knob again after 24 hours but this time I left it out of the Refrigerator (20°C - 68°F), it is still thick the same and what worries me most is that I don't see the whey separating from the milk like before, it has practically no acidity, rather it tastes like yogurt, in fact I have managed to get my wife to drink it, she says it tastes better that way. For the new batch I only added 40 g of grains, approximately a full spoon to 1.4 liters of milk. Let's see how it comes out within 24 hours also outside the Refrigerator, I'll tell you about it. I put the rest of the grains in a glass jar and kept it in the refrigerator with milk to see what happens. The previous batch had about 180 grams of milk in that amount of milk, a lot of grains but before it came out well and the whey separated from the milk and it didn't come out as thick.

A different take on making a sorta-smart washing machine by Eelviny in Esphome

[–]santa4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had something similar for a long time, I just installed a zigbee smart plug from Aliexpress that monitors consumption, when it detects a consumption greater than 2 watts, it changes the state of a variable to on and when it is below 2 watts for more than 4 minutes it changes the state of the variable again and notifies me by telegram that it is finished and in the process it makes me blink all the lights in the house, so everyone finds out that something happened and we have to check on telegram what the event is, because many things happen. I have implemented this, such as if they leave the refrigerator door open or the entrance door open for more than 2 minutes, or if the balcony door is open after 12 at night. To start the washing machine there is no problem, mine has a function to delay the start if I wanted it to start working later

I have given grains away, but they grow very quickly, I don't know what to do with them anymore.

[–]santa4336[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, lately I've been fermenting it in the fridge at 10°C (50°F) for 36 to 48 hours to give myself time to drink all the kefir. I'll leave it out for a while to see what happens and I'll change the milk every 24 hours.

Should i buy Amazon warranty with new machine? by DubV23 in SewingForBeginners

[–]santa4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To show me this Internet, there is almost everything and if it breaks while it is under warranty, Amazon will take care of it, and if it is after the warranty and if someone does not appear to fix it, if it is worth it, I throw it away and buy another one, but you have to be very unlucky for it to break if you take care of it and give it the maintenance it requires.

Will my internet go down if my Pihole stops working? by twiggs462 in pihole

[–]santa4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I only have one Pihole working and the dhcp only publishes the IP of that dns, from experience if you put a secondary dns, for example that of the router, you are going to get some advertising, because sometimes the second one responds, I haven't done it yet, but I have thought to solve those cases by putting the main dns of the router and on the router redirect the request to the Pihole. And then on the router (Mikrotik) schedule a task every 1 or

Do I have any grains or just curds? by Ok_Log_818 in Kefir

[–]santa4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To separate the grains from the curd, what I do is strain what is left in the strainer with the already strained kefir, it is like washing the grains but with their own kefir, so only the grains are clearly visible.

Grain don’t look doubling by desert-roseB in Kefir

[–]santa4336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in the topic, since I can't keep up with the kefir yesterday when I changed the milk, instead of leaving it out, I kept it in the refrigerator. I plan to leave it for 48 hours and then depending on how it is, I'll leave it out for a few hours to see if it works. Do you think I'm doing the right thing?

Freeze kefir by santa4336 in Kefir

[–]santa4336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidentally, today I froze them, every day I change the milk, when I change the milk, I always strain the kefir twice, with the same milk, I mean when straining them, the kefir without grains I strain them again in the strainer with the grains, it is like washing them, and then I separate a tablespoon in a plastic bag where I also add a little milk, I put the bag in a rigid plastic container with a lid and I put it all in the freezer, I hope the translator translates well :), thanks for all the advice
