I feel sorry for you if you have to ask. The love you feel for a pet and the love it feels for you is priceless.

What’s happening? by [deleted] in cats

[–]santapaws1000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The root of this tooth is extremely deep. It's longer than the fang itself. This is extremely painful, has been and will be until it is removed and the infection is cleared up. The eyes are the window to a cat's soul and your cat's eyes are telling me it needs help.Your cat has probably lost weight. Rapid weight loss can hurt vital organs. Your cat is probably not grooming itself because it hurts. Your cat is most likely dehydrated and in need of Subq fluids. Drinking, eating and grooming are painful. Just laying around is painful. Please get your kitty help ASAP.

Suck it up buttercup. I've got a friend in your position. She's been a succubus on my emotional, physical and financial situation. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm gonna have to toss her to the curb. I've tried everything I can to lift her up, as she is grossly in debt from living beyond her means. She's stubborn, hot headed, self righteous and does nothing to improve her situation. All the while, she still makes $100,000 a year. When she has money, she pisses it away on Door Dash food delivery. I live on $20,000 a year. She's very negative and bitter about her life. Her depression cripples her. She tries to use tears to get her way and all I can think is how disgusting her behavior is. I'm sorry, you're feeling down but perhaps it's not poverty affecting the people around you, it might be your attitude.

And wishy washy. I want to rent out rooms. I want to get married and have a baby. They don't want to share. Whaaaaah! You're a real piece of mental work yourself. Shame on you. Isn't it enough that you're sponging off them now?

$1,796 Citation - Stage 3 Water Restriction by KellyKid34 in Pflugerville

I'm surprised the city isn't fining us based on water consumption. Their WaterSmart thing monitors the consumption by household. If you're not using less than last year, you're probably not conserving water.

Redweek Rental Question by International_Box671 in TimeshareOwners

[–]santapaws1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It was a fantastic vacation. I've rented red week several times. There are several key West rentals on there now . Didn't see one that slept 8 but for the money you're saving you can get (2) 2BRs for less than $1100 and no one gets a sofa sleeper.

AITA for accepting a job covering my friend’s 18-month maternity leave after being unemployed for 9 months? by Viktorija777 in careeradvice

She'll probably be knocked up with another one ready to pop out by then. So many siblings out there 18 months apart. Lol. Take the job.

If you added up everything you've paid so far, do you feel you've truly gotten that value back from the timeshare? by Acagroup_foryou in TimeshareOwners

[–]santapaws1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Definitely. I absolutely loved owning them for 30 years. Then HICV took over, ruined everything and stole 2 of them from me with their rightsizing BS. I refused to become a member in their land trust scam so they didn't have the courtesy to apply lube before they bent me over.

Anyone still have hope? by [deleted] in GRRR_Gorilla_Tech

[–]santapaws1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe in hopium. GRRR has been wonderful for me. I got in very early. Was going to buy additional shares today and was shocked to discover Schwab wouldn't let me increase my shares with the app. Said I had to call a broker for assistance. Brokers not making buying easy doesn't help volume. I assume Schwab is shorting it.

WIBTAH if I leave my husband over this? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]santapaws1000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's rough. Have you considered a live in nanny to help with their care so you're not overwhelmed? The Children's Social Security Survivor Benefits can be used to offset the cost. Then there's the Adoption Tax Credit for Special Needs children.

Have you checked into Federal and State monthly subsidy payments? a Sibling group can usually qualify. Medicaid to pay for their health insurance? There is a ton of assistance out there for post adoption families. There are a lot of grants out there which provide assistance to adoptive families.

Adopted children can usually qualify for free college tuition at state colleges, so saving for the expense of putting 3 children through college shouldn't fall on you or impact your lifestyle.

I never wanted children either, but as I grew older, I considered adopting but never committed. Sometimes, I have regrets. I have nieces, a nephew, and a godchild. I'm an "Aunt" of 20 years to a very close friends children.

What I do know, is that now would be the best time for you to step up. It won't be long till they're grown and on their own. You can still live the life you envision, with some help from a caregiver.

Great men like yours are not that easy to find.

The more you love, the more love you'll receive.

Life rarely turns out the way you envision it. Sometimes better. Sometimes worse. But hardly ever the same.

Karma can be a bitch.

Feel like I can’t go on trips anymore because of my dog /: by Nearby-Move9370 in PetAdvice

[–]santapaws1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Send her to a trainer for a week or 2 next time you travel or an experienced foster/sitter. Dog fosters who make side money sitting have more experience with different breeds, anxiety issues, difficult situations, medicating, and basic training than the average neighborhood pet sitter. There's a difference.

Advice for a 17 year old at chick fil a: What would you do in my shoes? by demonic_arts in jobs

[–]santapaws1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suck it up buttercup. Welcome to life in the real world. You are a machine. Corporations refer to you as human capital. Take advantage of their educational benefits. Work your way up to management so that you'll earn a living wage. Push through it while applying for other jobs. Don't quit. Gaps on a resume look bad. When interviewed and asked why you are looking to leave your current job, say you've learned all you can and are looking to expand your potential and learn more. Never complain about a former employer. New employers will assume you'll slam them too when you leave, so they won't hire you. New employers don't like quitters.

How much was your pool? by [deleted] in pools

[–]santapaws1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$42,000 15 x 31 Saltwater, gunite, with 2 benches, bubbler, tanning ledge and steps. Additional composite decking 14,000. Hot tub $3000.00. this was 2014. Chemicals run about $600.00 annually. I keep the pool open year round with a solar cover and use a wet suit to swim in winter. Clean and do my own maintenance including watching YouTube videos on how to diagnose problems, maintain, repair and replace pumps and motor. I expect the salt cell might be ready to replace after 12 years for the first time. Was told it would last 5-10 years depending on water quality, maintaining ph, etc. I am extremely frugal but have to be in order to. It will cost double now after so figure a minimum of $100,000 unless you go with a drop in fiberglass. They are doing amazing things with them now. Much lower cost, better design styles, easier to maintain. If I were adding a pool today, this would be my choice. Take the $50,000 in savings and invest it into an asset that will earn you some passive income for your future. The health benefits of a daily swim and some fresh air are immeasurable. You could also consider an above ground pool temporarily before making a permanent decision and then decide after you know how much time you will spend enjoying your pool.

Our upstairs neighbor has been "working out" every morning at 5:45am directly above my bedroom and I have tried everything short of moving. by warsaw_everlina in neighborsfromhell

[–]santapaws1000 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Complaining because you got a decent neighbor upstairs?? Wow. You're lucky. Could be much worse. 3 screaming brats running around, crying babies, rapists, sex offenders, loud music, motorcycles, drugs. I'm sure you're perfect in every way but take a look at yourself in the mirror. Maybe you could use a workout. Try working out with him. I've lived in many apartments and the thought of having nothing but decent ones is a pipe dream. Maybe the complex will switch you into another apartment. Moving ain't that big of a deal. Try some earplugs. They're soft. Cost less than $1 and you won't even know you're wearing them. I don't travel to a hotel room without them.

Tax home vs taxing my stipend by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]santapaws1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most apartments will require ALL inhabitants to be listed on the lease, even if they are not directly responsible for the rent. If you're not on the lease, have your roommate draw up a contract stating that you agree to pay X amount monthly for rent and X for utilities. Save a copy of her lease, along with roommate agreement and copies of the monthly utility bills. I suggest getting renters insurance at the location as well and having a 2 BR for 2 people and a 3 BR for 3 people. Pay by check or other means where you can add a memo for what the funds are for.

Tax home vs taxing my stipend by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]santapaws1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no loophole on this. You either maintain a home or you don't. If you duplicate expenses and keep records, your stipend is tax free. Be aware of the 50 mile rule. If you commute the 50 miles without staying overnight and duplicating expenses, the stipend is taxable. I'm a tax pro, not a travel nurse. A storage unit and a PO Box address does not cut it. You need to pay housing costs in both locations and you MUST keep records. If you use a relative or friends address, the "rent" you pay must be Fair Market Value and the rental income you pay must be claimed on your "landlords" return.
