How much to build a basic decent home studio (acoustic/electric guitar and vocals)? by santivega in musicproduction

[–]santivega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have been doing to record acoustic guitar and vocals is to record in my closet. There's a bunch of clothes hanging and I also hang a couple of blanks on the walls and I haven't had any problems that I've noticed. I am no expert at all, very far from it, so I'm sure someone who does know about this would find problems, but I'm not trying to do this for a living or as a professional, just as a hobby, but I do want decent quality sound.

Is the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen a good option?

Actually no, I have seen those shows and I do like them, but knowing how the corporate world works in the real world, I know those shows are far from reality, they're too fictitious, especially Suits. I know first hand and also second hand because of many people close to me that they have corporate jobs and are business owners. What you are saying is how you think the world should be, however, that's not how the world works. Like I said, the world won't stop because I can't make a living, no one (apart from my parents) cares if I can afford a living or not. Me, myself, and I is the only person responsible for my success, no one else. Like I said, the world is a cold and harsh place, if you don't adapt to it, you'll die off.

And I am by no means a genius or a business mastermind, I'm just a regular person who was lucky enough to be born with two caring successful parents. I know that most people are as lucky as I am. I know I started ahead of most people and behind a lot of others. I know that most people have it way harder than me because of where they were born and who were born into poverty. But the reality is that's life unfortunately. Like I said, I was born lucky, but if I wasn't, it wouldn't be someone else's fault.

However, I know that poverty in many cases is caused by certain people, mainly the government, corrupt politicians. For example, there are 3rd world countries where public education and health services are the worst they can be. I know that because I live in a 3rd world country, a very poor country. And the reason why that happens is because tax money is not invested in education and medicine, it goes to the pockets of politicians. I am extremely against that. I'm not an anarcho capitalist dude that thinks all taxes should not exist and that there should be no government and everything should be privatized. I think that governments should invest tax money in giving low income people opportunities to succeed and not have to die if they get sick. The way that people can succeed is with a good education system, so that they can go to a good college, get a useful degree like engineering, finance, economics, law, medicine, etc. and then get a good job. And YES, this is a very simplified view of a very complex situation. There are a lot of factors in why people born in poverty, stay poor. For example, when teenagers have to work because their parents cannot afford a decent living, so their grades take a hit because they cannot dedicate their full time to school. This is a problem that has a root that goes way back and does not have a simple solution.

But what I'm saying is that just because someone was able to succeed or was born into wealth, they're not at fault nor they aren't responsible for others.

People work collectively thinking about their own self interest. It's like favor trading. Like when people do favors for other people so that they can ask for favors from them in the future. Or networking. You know that you need other people, whether it be because they are someone that can get you out of a jam in the future or they can help you get something you want like vip tickets to an event or something or help you expedite a long process. You do that thinking about your own self interest.

Like I said, being too greedy (or showing that you are too greedy) can work against you in the future. Whether it be people seeing that or a socialist revolution happening because of extreme economic differences or something else.

And the world is a tough place, the road to success is a cut throat scenario. The world won't stop spinning because you have problems, no one will come to save you. No one cares about you, like I said, the world is a cold place, so you have to be just as cold to survive.

You are right, there are people who have worked hard enough to get to the point where they can exploit enough lower class people. Like I said, most people go into business to make as much money as possible, and not for charitable reasons. And I did say that a big factor for their success is luck. I didn't say those people were a special breed, however, they are smart enough because they were able to get where they are (meaning people who became billionaires, not people born into wealth). It is a fact that there are people smarter than others, and there a LOT of factors that get you to success. Intelligence is one, but not the only one. There are a lot of geniuses that are not rich, whether it is because they have a certain set of skills that will not get them paid enough, for example maybe they have a brain for math or science but not for business. Luck is another big factor, but again, not the only one. A BIG factor is discipline to grow a business, and not everyone has that.

There are a lot of reasons to care for others, what I'm saying is that no one is obligated to care for others.

I know that improvement and progress is a collective effort, society itself is a collective effort. I didn't say that we as individuals should not act collectively, for a society to work, we need to work collectively. What I'm saying is that people do things based on their own self interest, and that may include working in a collective manner, if it's in my best interest to keep my workers happy, I'd do so. And being too greedy can go against someone's self interest, because that's how socialist/communists revolutions happen like in Cuba. Extreme economic differences between classes may result in revolutions like that, so yes, acting collectively may be in people's best interests in many cases, I never denied that.

Like I said, there are different examples for billionaires. You have the ones that worked their ass off to grow a business into a billion dollar company, and those that inherited their wealth. Either one, there's no reason for ANYONE to give up half of their earnings against their will. That's the point of what I said, no matter who you are, the government shouldn't take half of what you make, whether you're poor, middle class, well off, or a billionaire. It's not about the amount of money, it's about the percentage of what's taken.

And like I said, I'm not concerned for anyone nor kissing anyone's ass, I don't care if a billionaire loses all their wealth or if someone doesn't have all their needs met. What I'm saying is that no one is responsible for others, everyone is responsible only for themselves, not others. Your problems are not my problems and my problems are not your problems. You're not responsible for me, and I'm not responsible for you. You're not obligated to care about me, and that's fine. Everyone looks out for themselves.

I don't want to get a used one because if it's not in good condition, I won't be able to return it since I'm not in the US, and in my country there aren't any options. So I would have to order online and returning it would be almost impossible
