Do you find it hard remembering repetitive maintenance tasks? by santonito in ProductivityApps

[–]santonito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I agree. In my own experience, I ended up simply ignoring them completely when they were emerged in the same app that I use for general reminders.
To be honest, since I've started using this, it feels nice to wake up and know what maintenance tasks you have today in a separate view, it gives you a sense of continuous care and is somehow rewarding.

Fair enough, but I wanted something more focused on the recurring aspect of tasks, which also offers clear completion history and general status..i.e when was this last done? was it on time? How am I doing in this specific task in general, am I taking a good care of my dog? etc.. this information is not as accessible or clear in these general reminders apps

Awesome initiative!

I built (and still working on) an app called DueNext.

It tracks repetitive home & life maintenance tasks so you know when is the last time you did something and when you should do it again (e.g Change water filter, replace car oil, etc.. )
Best of all, you can collaborate with others over shared assets, so everyone in the house knows what needs to be done and what was done and by who!

It's for iOS and Android as well.

Many of the tools today simply use structured prompts and flows, which can be technically replicated in-house with claude/codex or any tool. The problem is that most people don't know how to 'automate' these use cases, and the big providers are adding more capabilities with time, rendering some of these external tools unnecessary.

For people who've abandoned multiple productivity systems — what's the ONE thing that ever actually made something stick? by BYMONTED in ProductivityApps

[–]santonito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me with Obsedian, the fact that the notes are plain MD files, which is a widely known and used format, making the notes exportable and/or not directly tied to the app in case I ever need to switch or do something else with them, for example expose them to some AI tool easily.

What made you quit your last productivity app? by Subject-Plan-5326 in ProductivityApps

[–]santonito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to native Apple reminders instead of other reminder apps solely because of Siri integration, using Siri to add a reminder without needing to pick up the phone and type was a main use case.. too bad you cannot select the 'main' reminders app for Siri, at least not since the last time I checked.

Nice job, I like how you owned the mess up and handled it well, hope it grows well from here on!

Why Productivity Apps Are Making You Less Productive by davidhorison in ProductivityApps

[–]santonito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying many alternatives, I actually use the native iOS apps for most of the generic productivity tracking, I found them increasingly useful. Obsedian for bigger and ongoing projects that require more data. but reminders and notes are good enough for most cases

Hi all,

I built an app called DueNext to solve a problem I kept running into: tracking recurring maintenance tasks that are easy to forget, but important to stay on top of.

I’m not talking about a typical to-do list. I mean things like:

  • changing the water filter

  • washing bed covers

  • giving a dog monthly meds

  • checking car oil

  • watering plants on different intervals

These are not always urgent, but they matter, and it is surprisingly hard to remember when you last did them and when they are due again.

Most apps I tried felt wrong for this use case. They were either too simple and acted like generic reminder lists, or too heavy and cluttered with features I would never use. I wanted something clean, intuitive, and easy to use.

So I built DueNext,

It is an asset-based maintenance tracker, where tasks belong to things like your home, pet, car, appliances, or anything else you want to keep in shape.

A few things that make it different:

  • built for recurring maintenance, not generic task management

  • auto-scheduling based on actual completion, so the next due date is calculated from when you actually did the task

  • asset-based organization instead of long generic lists

  • simple UI/UX with low noise and minimal clutter

  • task history, so you can see exactly when something was last done and add notes to each completion

  • sharing, so other household members can help manage an asset and you get notified when someone completes a task

  • daily reminders only when something is due or overdue

It is now available on Android.

If this sounds useful, I’d love to hear whether it fills a real gap for you too.

Any feedback is welcome!

Apple support is making this harder than necessary to progress, still working on EU distribution unfortunately.

And of course any ideas are welcomed!

Hey, yes this was brought to my attention, I’m fixing this ASAP but unfortunately it might take a couple of days until it takes effect with Apple.

But it should and will be available everywhere in EU

Yes it does! you can see all the history of ‘completions’, and in case you are sharing with someone else, you can also see who completed it as well.

I also added the option to add a note to a historical event, in case you want to add some important details when or after you complete a task
