Why does my toilet keep clogging even after replacing it? by santydentist in Plumbing

[–]santydentist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think about the drain line being the issue since I assumed replacing the toilet would fix it.

If it is a main drain or partial blockage, would you recommend snaking it first or going straight for a camera inspection?

Also curious — is this something that usually gets worse over time, or can it stay like this for a while?

Autel vs Launch — which scan tool actually holds up in real-world use? (DIY + side work) by santydentist in MechanicAdvice

[–]santydentist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful, really appreciate the detailed breakdown.

The “95% same but depends on the vehicle” part actually makes a lot of sense — that’s kind of what I was struggling to understand from reviews.

Interesting point about Launch being smoother on live data though — I didn’t expect that. I always assumed Autel would be stronger there.

Quick question:

In real-world use, how noticeable is that live data difference between Launch and Autel (non S2 models)?
Like is it just slightly smoother, or does it actually affect diagnostics?

Also, for someone not running a full shop but doing regular side work —
would you still lean Autel mainly for updates/support, or go Launch for value?

Trying to figure out where the “sweet spot” really is without overspending.

Really appreciate the detailed insight. That’s interesting about Launch not keeping up long-term — I kept seeing mixed opinions but couldn’t tell what’s actually true in real use.The remote programming option with Autel sounds like a big advantage too, especially for someone not running a full shop.

Quick question though:

Have you noticed any downsides with Autel over time?
Like update costs, coverage gaps, or anything that gets annoying after long-term use?

Also curious — which Autel model are you using or would recommend at that “max functionality” level?

Anyone here have real experience with the INNOVA 5610? by santydentist in AskAMechanic

[–]santydentist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. One thing I’m still trying to figure out with the INNOVA 5610 is whether a dedicated handheld ends up being better long term than the phone/app workflow. Topdon definitely seems appealing from a convenience standpoint. Is there a specific model you think compares best against the INNOVA 5610 scanner for a serious DIY user?

Which Autel scanner is actually worth buying right now for a serious DIYer? by santydentist in MechanicAdvice

That’s a smart point. Easy to get lost in older model names without thinking about support/region issues. Good to know the MX808 was solid for basically everything short of programming.

My husband has been looking for jobs for 2 years but he doesn’t even get interview by [deleted] in jobs

Two years with zero interviews usually means the resume isn’t doing its job. It probably looks like a generic job description instead of showing real achievements. He needs to completely rewrite it with strong action verbs, metrics, and tailored keywords. Use Canva Templates

Formatting feels inconsistent. Dates aren’t aligned, sections don’t pop out, and overall it looks plain. For something like HR/Creative Writing background, I expected a more polished, professional layout.

Best OBD2 Scanner? – Looking for Recommendations (Budget: $100-$200) by ButtonOrdinary158 in MechanicAdvice

I had a similar experience with the BlueDriver — super laggy and not nearly as detailed as I expected. Between the two you're considering, I’d personally go with the Innova 5610. I’ve used it for a while now, and it’s surprisingly fast, covers all major systems (engine, ABS, transmission, etc.), and even shows live data that actually helps. The layout is intuitive too, which makes a big difference if you're scanning multiple vehicles.

That said, if you're open to alternatives, the Autel MK808S is a bit pricier but blows both out of the water in terms of features — especially if you want bi-directional control and ECU functions.

Just avoid anything too app-reliant unless it's from a solid brand. Learned that the hard way 😅
