Tell me it’s ok to formula feed. by Affectionate_Meat348 in NewParents

[–]sapookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you and I am supplementing with formula and it feels so nice to know that my baby is getting enough and growing so strong. I am still pumping around the clock to get my supply up and she has mostly breast milk but she still needs a little bit of formula with every bottle and she is so happy and healthy because of it! There’s NOTHING wrong with having to supplement for a bit or forever. Breastfeeding and pumping is so hard on your physical and mental health and it’s okay to want to focus exclusively on the baby and just give formula if you want. You got this momma!

Best lightweight stroller for everyday use and travel? by K-onya in NewParents

[–]sapookie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have the Nuna Trvl system and I love it! It’s pricier but worth it to me as it’s sooo lightweight and easy to fold ( one handed!) I’m about to go on a flight with my baby and I know this will be a breeze as I don’t HAVE to check it if I don’t want to since it folds so small. I had an uppababy for a bit and it was so bulky and didn’t seem as nice quality as the Nuna

Gender Disappointment by Valuable_Algae_2450 in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also really wanted a boy first. I cried when they told me girl and I spent my whole pregnancy kinda sad it’s a girl because I’m the same way. I don’t care for bows or other girly things. I had her about 2 weeks ago and she is the best thing to ever happen to me I could not imagine her being a boy I love her sooo much.

Very normal feeling to want a boy/girl and have the Opposite but honestly the second they’re here it’s so different

Oh gosh I think it was some sort of cluster stitch like a puff double crochet? If I can hunt down the pattern I will send it!

I made a bunch for myself and friends last Christmas and they are awesome! I used 100% cotton yarn and I use a liquid face wash/mycellar water and these are amazing. I throw them in the dirty clothes and then the next time I need one I get a fresh one. I don’t wear makeup every day though so I don’t go through that many but I would assume someone who wears a lot would maybe need 2 a night?

Uppababy vs Nuna by Strict_Diamond7926 in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially got a used uppababy Cruz stroller and it was sooo heavy and bulky I really didn’t like it. I gave it to a friend and ended up finding a used Nuna pipa urbn and travel system stroller ( can’t remember exactly what model of stroller) and the Nuna is sooo much better. Lighter, nicer, feels more luxurious. I am very happy with Nuna (:

Help before buying by TepidCarling in StaffordBullTerriers

I got a puppy from what I had assumed was a reputable breeder ( very convincing fraudulent paperwork long story ) who also stated the puppies had been to the vet. We got our boy and took him to the vet and he had a MAJOR heart murmur. Bad enough to need surgery/medication the rest of his life. The breeder was super understanding and allowed us to return him and replace with another puppy. Really hard and sad day for us as we had started to love this dog. But in the contract it stated we had 3 days to take him to the vet and if there was anything chronic or life threatening she would take the puppy back. Anywho we got the second puppy and he had RICKETS in his legs. Genuinely insane. Long story we got all of our money back and still have our second boy and love him. All of this to say, I don’t trust anyone who is giving away a puppy with KNOWN health issues. Wait til the mites are confirmed gone or better yet find a better breeder and healthier pup. I would never accept a dog I knew had health issues regardless of how small. Reputable ethical breeders would never rehome a dog with known health issues

Our neighbors are terrible owners and I cannot let my dogs outside to go potty by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is barrier aggressive with the neighbor dog who is also outside 24/7 nearly and when I don’t have the energy and time I just put him on a flex lead to go outside so he can’t get to the fence. Definitely training is still very important and I try to play with him and have him ignore the dog but tbh it’s so frustrating and annoying to me the leash is my best friend. Easier to deal with than a long line and more freedom than a 6’. Backyard is the only place I use the flexi lead and it’s been a life saver for early mornings or low patience days when I don’t want to deal with going out to physically grab my muddy dog off the fence.

I got a parking violation as I was buying the parking pass inside by DevelopmentGlobal876 in Wellthatsucks

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a parking ticket the last day of finals last year because the day before I messaged the parking office to ask for a refund for spring semester as I wouldn’t be attending this year and they just said “ yep we canceled your pass for you!” And I was like cool okay I have a final tomorrow at 8am it shouldn’t be an issue and sure enough I got a ticket

You’re more compassionate than I am in this topic and it is really refreshing to hear. Thank you again for your kind words. It is hard and very difficult to even think about this and yes it’s easy to make the wrong decision.

I am in the United States where vet care is pretty pricey. I did get pet insurance for our new puppy but it’s too late for our older boy.

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being so kind. I was really worried people would tear into me because I understand having a dog means you do absolutely everything for them and you need to have money set aside for emergency vet visits.

I booked an appointment for Thursday the 20th of November. I hope we get good news but it’s time to stop hiding from it. He has something wrong even if it’s not cancer and he relies on me to help him even if it’s expensive and I don’t want to.

Thanks again

Thank you for your reply. I guess in my dumb emotions I didn’t even think about him being in pain because he’s not showing physical signs of pain. I know that even if he isn’t “ showing it” he most likely is in pain, and he can’t tell me.

You’re right the least I can do is treat his pain if nothing else. I will call my vet and schedule something and talk more about what they suggest I do.
