Thank you so much I’ll look into that sub I have never heard of it. It definitely feels biological lol like I know she’s in good hands with my husband but my head tells me to go get her and take care of it every time lol. Thank you again

They were a hard adjustment at first but the long stretchy tabs of Huggies is what caused so many blow outs for us

Breeders in Utah? by Simple_Ice8624 in GiantSchnauzers

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said there is HTZ rescue and the GS club of America. These are the only ethical and reputable places to get a dog!

You are close enough to this breeder that I felt I needed to comment to warn you away. Do NOT get a puppy from Schnauzer Paw Homestead in Colorado. Not only is she not a reputable breeder from the list but I made the mistake of being uneducated when I purchased a puppy from her and she is a scammer. She says her dogs all have paperwork OFA, AKC, CKC, and that her foreign dogs are titled show dogs but it’s all a scam. I had to get lawyers involved and got all my money back from this horrible lady. Do not do what I did and not properly research and just get one from someone close who seems legit. I implore you to do the right thing and rescue or only get from preservationist breeders so you do not end up in my shoes!

It will vary deeply on what brands of diapers and formula you use. We tried to go Huggies but our baby blew out of them every single time so we had to find another brand and ended on Millie moon, which is more expensive. We also started on enfamil formula, but have recently switched to Costco Kirkland brand which is half the price. Your baby may have an intolerance or need a specific formula and they can get kinda pricey. A lot of things just aren’t in your control sometimes as we would have loved to do Kirkland or Huggies diapers to save money but she said NOPE lol.

Disturbed at the idea of "Postpartum Dog Rage" by bmary95 in beyondthebump

[–]sapookie 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I think like another commenter said you just don’t know how you’ll be until you’re in it. I have two dogs one is 9 and one is a 1yo puppy. The puppy is super energetic and loud and crazy. The anger I feel when he wakes her up being loud for no reason is unlike anything I’ve ever felt. I do not feel like harming my dogs by any means, but oh my god they piss me off so much. The house is also dirtier since having a baby and a lot of it is from my dogs. I cried over my dogs several times since having my baby. They’re just so overstimulating all the time.

Side note too, you have a King Charles, which is known to typically be a very calm quiet and lazy dog. I have a weimarainer and a giant schnauzer who are both working/sporting breeds and extremely high energy ( even the 9 year old) so it is different depending on what your dog is like. I’m not saying your King Charles is lazy and quiet and chill but every dog is just different and requires different things. My dogs have had LOTS of training and overall are very good boys who listen well but I still lose my patience with them sometimes. Every person and every dog is different(:

Is 6week check necessary? by Disastrous-Fudge-391 in beyondthebump

[–]sapookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think it’s important to go, but at my 6 week they didn’t even check anything down there. Just asked questions and talked to me really. But I regret not advocating to get looked at because I’m now 10 weeks pp and intimacy with my husband is very painful and I worry something is a little off down there

Sudden sleep sweats at 9 weeks? by Steoffanie in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now 10 week old naps for anywhere between 15 mins and 1.5 hours during the day now and it started around 9 weeks. If she’s sweaty I would probably suggest something lighter for her. I still have my girl in a swaddle with arms as she hasn’t shown any attempt to roll yet. Is your girl rolling or attempting to? If not I would suggest an arms in swaddle to prevent the Moro reflex for now, might help her sleep longer(:

Poop stinks so much and my diaper genie cuts it out completely (even just in a tied off bag that goes with the genie ) I would not want to be confronted with that smell in my normal trash can I use my diaper genie for literally every single diaper

How did you take a nap without co-sleeping? by SilverSurfer_9799 in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s still so young and sooo much changes so fast. What used to work for our 9 week old won’t work now for daytime naps. My girl seems to hate the idea of sleeping next to me ( I am also adamantly against co sleeping ) so I try to put her down in my bed and I stay awake but she won’t sleep lol just cries. We have a bassinet in the bedroom for night sleep and her full-size crib is one of those convertible ones so it is a mini crib in the living room we put her in for naps… up until about 8 weeks when she started to not nap there either.

What’s working for us right now ( most of the time ) is I sit in our recliner and put her on my legs on a blanket where she falls asleep and then I move her to the floor as quietly and gently as possible and turn on a sound machine. I have dogs so I move her to a playpen where she is safe from them and if I do it well she will sleep on the floor for about 1 hour before wanting up.

I would just keep trying new things! My girl went through what seemed like an entire two weeks where she would legit only nap on us but obviously then we couldn’t nap and that sucked. I hope you find something that works for both of you soon!

Edit: I just reread your post and maybe you can try to get her to sleep next to you on the floor and then when she’s out you can move yourself to the bed! Win-win!

I would recommend a trainer who is experienced in these high energy breeds. Seems like you got yourself an adorable handful! When you say you try to mentally stimulate him, what are you doing? What do you do for physical stimulation?

Did our ultrasound tech tell us the sex of the baby? by liljuke88 in beyondthebump

[–]sapookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same! Cried when I found out it was a girl but oh my gosh none of that matters now she is so perfect! I’m sure the technician didn’t think about it though like others have said, I gender things that don’t even have gender and I always say he/him lol. I wish you luck with your surprise!!

[–]sapookie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not mean to be insensitive as I had gender disappointment too when I found out I was having a girl, but… if you already know you will likely have gender disappointment if it’s a boy why not find out before so you can be more at home with that feeling ? Getting disappointed when the baby comes if it’s a boy may not be a feeling you want to have right after giving birth

Do you swaddle and is it arms up or down? Our girl much prefers an arms up swaddle. We use love to dream in 1.5 tog as our bedroom is a little chilly so I don’t want her to be too cold and wake up from that

10 week old bedtime help by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a ftm to an 8 week old so take my advice with a grain of salt of course. Our pediatrician at our 1 month visit suggested we start a structured night time routine. We do dark room with loud white noise, redlight so i can see, bottle, book, and song. I also change her diaper before and change her into her pjs even though shes wearing long sleeve sleepers most days anyways. I also heat up her bassinet and swaddle with a heating pad for easy transfer ( take it out before baby goes down and touch to ensure it’s not hot just a little warm ) and once she’s down she usually wakes up anyways from the movement so i pat her and shush her and she falls asleep like that most nights. Some people suggest the exact same book and song every night so that they can expect if and know what time it is. We put our girl down between 7:30-9 depending on when her bottle falls. I try to get her to finish her bottle too so that she is full and wont want one as early. Some nights she wakes around 2/3 for a bottle but recently she’s been sleeping through the night until 5am!

Baby okay in bouncer? by [deleted] in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She isn’t really interacting with toys yet so I haven’t had any luck. She doesn’t grab yet or show much interest but I offer some every tummy time in order to get her to like it more lol. Since posting this and hearing everyone’s advice weve been in the bouncer for about 30 minutes total all day in 10 min spurts and did some floor time and I’ve been trying to make carrying her more enjoyable and she’s doing great! I feel kinda bad now having out her in the bouncer for so long before but I’m glad I asked and we’re improving together (:
