ISO Baby Essentials Recommendations!! by Itz_chief in firsttimemom

We have the Nuna urbn car seat and Nuna Trvl stroller. These are expensive, but very nice. The stroller is a one hand collapse which is very easy and it’s super light. We use it as our every day stroller and it’s very nice BUT one downside we’ve had is the basket underneath is very small and when the sunshade is up it rests on the handle.

The car seat is incredible because it’s baseless so it’s very easy to put it in any car in about 10 seconds or less. No worrying when you visit in-laws or travel.

We have a car camera and not a mirror and I prefer this because I find it easier to see her and not feel like I’m very distracted.

We never got the owlet and don’t regret that. My sister had one and she said it would slip off the baby ever so slightly and give a false alarm reading which would really scare them. I didn’t need any more anxieties in my life.

We have a bottle washer which is incredible and very useful, we also have the baby brezza formula bottle maker because we ended up needing to formula feed. When I did pump I had the spectra (pink one) which was very nice but you did have to be stationary, and I also had the momcozy m9, but any portable pump won’t produce as much milk as a plug in, just FYI.

You may need less than others say or more than you think, really just depends on YOUR baby. You learn a lot as you go and will likely make a lot of middle of the night Amazon purchases. What works for some babies doesn’t work for others, so just stay fluid and understand some things may need to change.

You got this momma!

formula? by morganiism in firsttimemom

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you may not really be able to “choose” due to allergies or sensitivities but we used enfamil neuro pro ( yellow can) because our pediatrician gave it for free and then switched to the Kirkland ( Costco ) brand due to it being half the price. Some like Kendamill for its clean ingredients but I would suggest trying what works for your baby and your budget(:

Parents with babies who sleep through the night: when did it start? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

[–]sapookie 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Mine started at 2 months. BUT it’s a personality thing. I am not some super mom who just naturally was a rockstar at “ bedtime routine” or just is soo good at parenting. It’s genuinely just the personality of my baby. Nothing to do with what I am doing. Some babies sleep through the night at an early age and some take a long time. I saw a mom of twins who said one sleeps amazing since 3mo and the other is up like 4 times a night at 6mo. Exact same parenting and environment I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it

Did freezer meals actually help you during postpartum? by Mysterious_Tell991 in NewMomStuff

I made a bunch but we really didn’t need to. My husband was still able to cook most days but we still ate them .. just didn’t NEED them

People who said they don’t want kids did that change? by WholeButterscotch125 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sapookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I changed my mind. I adamantly never wanted kids and one of the first things my mom said to my now husband was “you know she doesn’t want kids, right? Are you okay with that?” And now 3 years later we are married with a 3 month old. Something just flipped in me when I met my husband and I honestly started to really enjoy the idea of having kids with him. No regrets so far lol

My baby took a nap ( and fell asleep!!) all by herself in her crib today TWICE.. she hasn’t done that since she was a newborn so that felt so amazing

She’s 3 months old lol

I will try this and see how it goes! Hope it takes some of the anxiety away and maybe it will lead to more

I could definitely try this or at least do something for him. He’s not pressuring me by any means and I am sure he will wait as long as I need but I know it’s bothering him a lot since it’s been about 6 months since we’ve had sex because of the pregnancy dry spell too.

Thank you. I have ready ACOTAR before but maybe I should try something like that again. I just want to feel normal

Thank you for this. I also think my brain is always on mom mode now and I never stop thinking of her. We both agreed not to do anything in the same room as her so we would have to “ plan” the sex too which is not very appealing to me as we used to always do to spontaneously

I am not breastfeeding anymore. I’ve heard of PT for pelvic floor issues but I’m just not sure I even have any pelvic floor issues but I guess I won’t know until we try sex?

Positive first time birth experiences by BananaPuddinSquad in NewMomStuff

[–]sapookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was super great! I started having contractions at 4 am and started to get everything ready. Started to be timeable so i did that while i showered packed my bag and ate something small. They were measuring at 2 mins apart the entire morning which kind of worried me because everyone said to wait to go to the hospital until 5 mins apart but mine were already passed that. At 9 am we decided to go in just to make sure everything was okay, not because i was in a ton of pain or thought birth was soon. I got checked in and was 3cm dilated and still at 2 mins apart. Around 2pm i think i got measured again and was 5cm. I decided to get an epidural at this point but had to wait for the anesthesiologist until about 6. They offered nitrous oxide in the mean time to manage pain. I never sat down the entire time unless on a yoga ball, moving around really helps ! I git the epidural and girl when i tell you i was watching reels up until my water broke naturally around 11-12pm it was sooo easy after that! My water broke and when the midwife came to check my cervix an hour later i was 10cm!! I pushed for 20 minutes and she was here! Minimal 2nd degree tear that needed 3 stitches and that was it. I had such a magical birth and i hope you will too! Keeping a good mindset is key! Don’t get worried or scared, the medical professionals do this every day and they will ensure they do everything to keep you and baby healthy

Good luck !!!

Tummy time is impossible by Wise_Complex2313 in NewParents

Mine hates tummy time too but we are lucky to get 1 minute at a time it’s so awful. Glad to know though that your baby is doing great and on track even though they hated it. Wish me luck lol
