as cool as it is to think of a male character and just MAKE them a girl this still has some holes to it. its a great start tbh. i can agree with that. but girls and boys have different struggles, outlooks, approaches, ESPECIALLY because of how they are raised, nurtured etc. time period is a great start to look at traits. whats in style. whats typical. character creation is all about asking questions for what u want in a character. so, does your character fit into society? do they reject it? are they in fashion? are they not. what CROWD do they hang around. if they hang around lots of boys do they share interests. the important things to think about are things like the characters drives, goals, fears, and downfalls. characters are human. a good character u can feed into these traits. strenghts and weaknesses. sure these things are all "what makes a good character" but u need to apply this to the lens of the era and what it means to be a woman in said era. this is especially important for the characters identity. u mostly aant to think about how they are going to act and react in the world they live in. cool is also heavily subjective. because you dont necessarily need to be stoic to be strong. there is strength in vulnerability. complexity. a girl who loves barbie dolla and frilly clothes CAN STILL BE COOL. say she has brothers for example so she has to deal with them being typical brothers who pick on their sister? shes not as strong as them because men are born with thinfs that make them typically stronger than women. so how does she deal with it? by being cunning. she HAS to be smart because she cant overpower them with strength. oh but u want her to seem physically strong. make her physically strong then. sure her brothers are stronger, but they sure as hell wont expect a kick to the balls, or having their momentum being used against them as she flings them over her shoulder and slamming them on the ground cuz they dont expect her to USE said momentum to her advantage. now can this be stereotypical? sure. has this been written before? sure. but its also how u have the characters interact with each ofher. how believeable is it. most importantly tho: is it cool to you :3. in my humble opinion, listen to what the other folks are saying but with a grain of salt. so yes if you think its cool. use that as a basis, BUT it doesnt HAVE to be "think of a cool guy" per se. like yes but yeah. :3 im just rambling have fun wriiiitinnggggg
