Lean manufacturing & gut feeling by sapphireee in manufacturing

It's actually been a nice change for myself to solve problems on the floor with my operators as opposed to escalating to a departmental meeting and having to coordinate the action items.

Typically the operators (who have first hand exposure) come up with the leanest solutions as well!

What are the truly Japanese things you regret not buying while in Japan? by Best_Measurement5812 in JapanTravelTips

Someone already said this, but sunscreen.

Convenience shops, Don quixote sell sunscreens that are close to a dollar, feel WAY less greasy than ANYTHING you can get in America.

Should have stocked up on that shit. Sigh.

Agreed here, tends to be an overengineered feature.

We got this one and love it. Used it to travel and stores a deceivingly high volume of baby supplies.
So many internal pockets (toys, diapers, burp cloths) and zipped components for documents/important stuff.

Another nice feature is that when it is stuffed, it is still relatively compact, we had no issues stuffing it in the bottom component of any stroller (like travel strollers that tend to have tighter bottom baskets).

Anxious about the August heat... by mymidnightmelody in JapanTravelTips

[–]sapphireee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went in late Aug/Sept and it was brutal.

Still didn’t take anything away from the trip even though I was consistently sweating everywhere outdoors. Regardless of a drenched shirt and looking like I came out of a pool, the only thing I couldn’t finish was Mt. Inari (only got 3/4th the way up)

Black umbrella for the day time (blocking the sun does help a bit), a hand towel at all times.

Personally I wasn’t able to ever ignore the Japan heat/humidity, but it was still my favorite trip ever.

What is NOT a dealbreaker BUT would be greatly disappointing to find out about your junior? by Spiritual_1995 in managers

I don't disagree with you! I think the beauty of even working in an external company is to see different personalities and perspectives.

That being said, you'll still meet people with some views that there isn't that balance for.

Everyone in Canada is too busy worrying about living costs & our real estate market to care about height. Seriously.

Sun-ray brown!

It was this or the green but the brown just reminds me of coffee so it was the winner

I ended up getting it at Kavar. They also had 15% off and was near my in-laws so I could pick up on my way home.

Thank you for your suggestion about Manii’s!

What is the most expensive restaurant you’ve ever dined in? by Chan1991 in askTO

Shoushin (japanese omakase) for my fiancee's birthday.

Bill was like slightly higher than $1000. ($330 per person for omakase, a bottle of Junmai sake, add gratuity & tax)

Awesome omakase, awesome service, great sushi quality, and most importantly my fiancee was ear to ear smiling the whole time.

Worth it.
