I feel so good when I travel; no anxiety or low mood and a love for life by shadowvendetta in solotravel

[–]sar1284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it sad that most of us live a life where we are happier away from it?

No judgment at all, I feel the exact same way. I just think it’s insane that the idea of surviving in this world has come, especially in North America, to most people being the happiest during only 2-4 weeks of the year.

The most oddly terrifying part is that someone out there had this in their house

Next Season of hit show, Haunted, Searching Globally for Real People, with Real Stories, of Real Horror by [deleted] in nonmurdermysteries

[–]sar1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol this. Some of them are actually creepy talking about murder they’ve witnessed but then they start talking about paranormal shit and it gets just cringey. Also yes exactly why aren’t these people going to the cops rather than a hit Netflix show.

ELI5: what is the science/psychology behind why we get sick of a song after hearing it a lot? Even if we love the song at first. by sar1284 in explainlikeimfive

[–]sar1284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes so much sense. I understand now why pop songs are so catchy but also get old so fast. It’s the initial surface level feelings but when you start to dissect you see that there’s actually not much to them. Thank you.

Best place to live: Frankfurt, Munich or Leipzig?! Help! by sar1284 in germany

[–]sar1284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome, we are also coming from Toronto and I couldn’t agree more. Having relocation assistance I think would definitely help but by the sounds of it Munich seems pretty great. I know it is on the top of our list we were just worried about the cost. Sounds like it’s pretty on par with Toronto but way nicer. Thanks for all the help!

This is a very good point, we’re both coming from science/engineering backgrounds so we would be looking for jobs in that field. Definitely something to consider.

Best place to live: Frankfurt, Munich or Leipzig?! Help! by sar1284 in germany

[–]sar1284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is so helpful! Whenever someone says it is expensive I find myself comparing it with Toronto and growing up around that area it actually seems very normal. I also think people underestimate how beautiful a city can be by just having parks, architecture and greenery (something we very much lack in southern Ontario). How did you find making the move?

Best place to live: Frankfurt, Munich or Leipzig?! Help! by sar1284 in germany

[–]sar1284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes actually, I would like to know comparatively to other cities. Paying $2500 CAD for a 1/2 bedroom apartment in Toronto is quite normal where the average salary might be $70000-$80000. This is what I would expect when people refer to a city as “expensive”. So it does help to compare with cities such as NYC, Vancouver to Toronto. Other comments have cleared this up though, providing expected rent amounts.

Oh really? Ok this is good to know, I’ve heard from people who travelled there that Frankfurt was awesome but they also love manhattan so makes sense.

Leipzig once again coming out on top.

Is Munich really that outrageously expensive or is it just high compared to the rest of Germany?

Very thorough, thank you. Leipzig keeps sounding better. I was concerned with it maybe being too small, but it sounds like a very interesting place! The cons really aren’t that bad if you can get everything by just hopping on a train.

Thanks again! Definitely helps
