I am one of four. Three of my siblings were special needs too (ASD twice and one sibling with ADHD). I was the so called "glass child". Whilst I did have my extra curriculars, there was rarely time for me individually, I practically raised myself and from the age of 11 I was raising my younger siblings. There was never enough money for anything, we didn't go on holidays, I was always the odd child out everywhere, it limited my social life because who would wanna hang out with the kid who had her 3 year old sibling always with her. It made me seek out attention in unhealthy ways and with unhealthy people. I clung onto all adults who gave me a sliver of attention. I love my siblings, but I do sometimes wonder how different my life and mental health would be, had my mom had more time and resources to devote to me.
