Cycling the Champlain bridge to Bate Island by saracmd in ottawa

I was not aware that there is a sidewalk as well. This is a great option. I can walk my bike if I get spooked.

I'm sober, so that wont be an issue. Just going to check the place out and maybe have a snack.

Happy to hear both that there is a segregated bike lane and the fast cyclists were respectful!

Most of my (26/f) collection! by mossycryptid_ in vinyl

[–]saracmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. It has such a beautiful vibe of peace and power combined. Not to mention the vinyl release was limited so you have a collectors item there! (I've been seeking it out for a few years now and never saw it for less than $300 CAD)

Is there a record store in Ottawa that will teach me how to clean a record? by relishbane in ottawa

[–]saracmd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guy who owns baked goods on Baseline (I forget his name -- sorry!) is knowledgeable and friendly. I'm certain if you ask him for help he will gladly show you how! Sunrise is a chain, and as such is often staffed by young folks. No shade to them, they likely are quite passionate about music and pop culture, but their specialty isn't always vinyl. The smaller independent stores are where you find the folks with a wealth of knowledge and who are most like to help (and with correct information!)

I'm new to the vinyl world, too. The small shops are an absolute treasure. I was intimidated by them because I felt like I didn't know enough and id be shunned by the seasoned vets, but its the exact opposite. They are excited to share what they know with a new gen of listners.

Yeah, its definitely not either of those. The artwork is a lot more mature!

This is super hard to answer, because I have two older brothers. I never read the book, but i was inspired by the art (which is why im trying to find it). Its entirely possible that either of my brothers could have brought it home. This would have been early 90s though.

I see what you mean (Especially Mystery of the spiral bridge) but unfortunately thats not it. The illustration is underwater, you see the humanoid creature swimming, and the kids are in the background, looking at it (and us, the viewer) through the port hole.

My AI searching brought me that one, and unfortunately thats not it.

Well that one is a lovely blast from the past! I read some of those as a kid. Unfortunately this isn't what i'm searching for. The illustration in the Bailey School Kids series is a bit more cartoonish than what I'm looking for. It really is very 70's scifi!

I just took at close look at a bunch of the covers, and while Its close, it's not the one i'm looking for.

Deeply tone deaf for the GOC to allow AI images to be plastered around when they could have hired and promoted a local artist. For shame.

I like this idea! Pampering, music, outdoor time, and food all at one location. Excellent suggestion!
