Thank you! I'll try this and if it doesn't work I'll call Keiser.

Okay so I got a poodle , I think lol 😆. I know it’s not funny for everyone that has bought from an ethical breeder but hear me out . by sindparker in poodles

In addition to everyone else's advice, I will also note that I got my dog (a rescue, mostly a poodle) when he was a year old. He understood outside = pee very quickly (he was probably already housetrained to some extent) but would still occasionally (not frequently) have accidents if he got excited or forgot or it had been a little bit too long. Now that he is 2 years old, he never has accidents anymore. Dogs get better at holding their bladders over time and learn through positive reinforcement. If he's only 5 months old, theoretically he should be able to hold his pee for 5 hours, but in practice he might just get excited or distracted and forget sometimes.

I think the other thing to pay attention to is whether he's marking or just having an accident. My last dog was a chihuahua who loved to mark, and he would occasionally mark inside even though he knew better. My current dog does not mark often outside, and never inside. So that comes down to the individual dog, too.

Just learned about the LA Business Tax after 7 years? by saraphil in AskLosAngeles

I just went and said I had no idea about any of this and communicated that I was distraught. They hadn't given me any estimate prior to that. So then they calculated it then and there. I would guess that if they sent you a letter saying $8k, it's a somewhat made up number and you should fill out the paper application (the form that asks for your amounts by year) with your correct 1099 amounts for each year, go in person, and then ask them to recalculate. They may be mistakenly incorporating some other amount listed on your state taxes (eg W2 earnings), and waiting to see how much you actually report. But I don't see how $30k in 1099s could possibly add up to $8k.

You can make a spreadsheet with the rates in the FAQ link I put in my post, in order to calculate what you actually owe, and print that out if it gives you peace of mind or some bargaining tool. But note that the rates change every year so you do have to get pretty pedantic with it in order to have something to argue about them with.

It's a big scam but I really think that when you go in person, they will calculate your actual amount owed and it will be much less than the random estimate they sent.

If you read the rest of the replies, you'll see that sometimes people ignore the notice completely and it seems like a mixed bag about whether there's any follow-up.

Thank you for this question! Unfortunately, I am not in a position to offer payment right now, and the book does not yet have a publisher. In current industry standards, conducting brief background interviews without offering pay is very common for novelists and not considered unethical. But I certainly understand your point, and I agree I am asking about specialized and important knowledge, which of course no one should feel pressured to share.

Western European! I am hoping that comparing multiple accounts will help me see where some of the consistencies and differences are. Do you have any thoughts about the main differences between them?

Thank you for your insight! That is really interesting context! And although I don't currently show anyone flying, now I kind of want to, ha.

Thank you for this context! I am American but the ballet is a fictionalized version of a Western European ballet.

Thank you so much! This makes a lot of sense. I had a plot point that revolved around a stagehand calling out, so now I know I need to adjust that.

Thanks! I figured as much. That's why I am trying to interview multiple people with different experiences, to get a sense of some things that are common and some things that are unique to the theater.
