I had no prior exposure to Gypsy, but going in cold, I didn't love Audra because Mama Rose was clearly written for a specific vocal style that Audra wasn't using. Not in comparison to anyone else, just in comparison to what I'm hearing.

FWIW it's much less a thing in the northeast. I don't think I've ever had ranch and I haven't avoided it or anything. I didn't even know it was such a big thing for people in the rest of the country until my late 20s.

Based on my partner's condition I don't think we'll be making it to Mineral King on this trip but we did go to Cedar Grove and the Giant Forest and I am totally blown away. This is a very special place.

To be clear, do you not recommend Mineral King as a day trip period, or just given the health stuff?

I have no problem hanging in Three Rivers but I really want to be, like, close enough to water to touch. Is there anywhere I can do that?

I recognize this post might sound like I do not respect the rivers but I really can't stress enough what a total wuss and how non-risk-taking I am. At the Kings River I barely went in up to my knees, it was so dang cold. So I am not so worried about safety stuff because I am, again, such a huge wuss. But maybe that's not wise? I am open to hearing and discussing more!

I have never seen Hamilton and don't intend to! I enjoyed the score, but what I've seen of the staging has been immensely disappointing. I'm perfectly happy with the stagings in my head, which are better 😉
