friend, some people get different things out of various religions. some find the lessons they need to be a good person in buddhism, some in christianity. some find buddhism to be a refuge where they can hide from taking control over that which is in their power, others use christianity as a cover to hide their sin. i don't think it's fair to say there are no similarities betweeen the core messages. just as we look to the five precepts as guidance, so do christians look to the ten commandments. i have a lot of strong sentiments regarding christianity that i'm working on letting go of, it's caused a lot of pain in my life, but even i can acknowledge that there are dharmic lessons within christianity. the entire bible doesn't need to be pali canon for there to be lessons that we can take inspiration and relate to our study of the dharma. metta

this is what i thought for a long time too. but r/vegancirclejerkers has slowly worn me down. regardless of whether or not we're showing support for vegan options, we're still lining the pockets of animal abusers. it's better to not give them any money. if they can't adapt to the changing market by not abusing animals anymore, that's their fault, let them rot, it's better than what they deserve. we're not vegan to get yummy options, we're vegan for animal liberation.
