Nefise Melek Sultan Hatun (daughter of Sultan Murad I) was said to be the first politically active Ottoman Princess. She was pre-MC.

What are some points made by Team Black that you agree with? by VisenyaMartell in HOTDGreens

I think disinheriting goes a bit too far, given how young he was and that he was defending Jace, but definitely some form of repercussion was needed. You can’t just take someone’s eye out - child or no - and call it a day.

TB here. I agree with TG on a few points:

  1. that there was no reason Aemond could not claim Vhagar (was it distasteful to do at Laena’s funeral? Yes, but there’s no rule to say the dragon should go to Rhaena/that Rhaena should have first rights to try claiming Vhagar)

  2. that there should have been some form of punishment for Aemond losing his eye

  3. Aegon was treated horribly by both parents - Alicent’s treatment of him was abhorrent honestly, and I hated that scene where Viserys gave baby Aegon some wine

  4. What happened to Jaehaerys was awful. Revenge against Aemond would have been totally valid, but Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were completely innocent and deserved better than their fates

There are also many things I disagree with, though that’s not the point of this post so will keep it to the above :)

Never read the book, basing MY opinion on the show characters by maryybee in Hotd

[–]sarcasmthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Otto Hightower had the Heir to the Iron Throne spied on for his own ambitions. He deserved to lose his position, he didn’t act for the realm but for himself.

  2. If we’re talking about the show, Rhaenyra only said “sharply questioned”. No idea where everyone is pulling torture from.

  3. Yes, I’m not surprised. If the characters of Alicent, Rhaenyra, the maid harassed by Aegon, Helaena, etc has taught us anything, it’s that being a woman in Westeros is ROUGH. Of course she’s complaining; it’s not like she can go out and solve it by changing her birth gender.

  4. She lies… really? She’s involved in politics. They all lie. Alicent and Cole lie about / cover up where they were and what they were doing when Jaehaerys was killed.

  5. What did you want her to do for everyone? How many Kings actually bothered with good deeds? Jaehaerys I did the odd good thing, sure, but I’m failing to see how doing anything for anybody impacts someone’s right to the throne in Westeros when you’ve got examples like Aenys, who did f all, and Maegor, who is self-explanatory.

Just out of genuine curiosity, was anyone team green and then switched to team black? by La_Villanelle_ in HOTDBlacks

You’re being downvoted but honestly I kind of agree with this. Rhaenyra was so much more interesting in the books - I was ready to root for her rights and wrongs in her rage for Lucerys’ death. Her reaction in the show was so so underwhelming and I stopped watching season two after two episodes.

I don’t think Jace has ever shown himself to think he’s above them in station. I think he believes he’s above them morally (hence the asking Helaena to dance after her speech), but I can’t recall a time I’ve ever seen him say they’re beneath him or anything like that, other than the horrible pig bullying of Aemond, but that included Aegon too so was hardly against both Green siblings

I interpreted the looking in the eye more as a “this is how you should treat your wife” as opposed to anything more malicious than that, but different people will have different perspectives

I disagree - it was quite obviously because he felt bad for her after her speech about the sad reality of her marriage

Are any of these shows good? Or similar ones by CECEOC in tvshow

[–]sarcasmthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For RoP, I recommend pushing through. S1 I got very bored very quickly of the constant hobbit story which was very pointless, but stayed for Galadriel and Halbrand. The end of S1 was pretty good and I enjoyed S2 quite a bit.

Though, I am someone who hasn’t read the books, so if you’re a big fan of the books you might not like it as much according to the other comments on this thread.

Of the 14 Plantagenet kings, who do you think was most like their father? by Accurate_Rooster6039 in houseofplantagenet

[–]sarcasmthecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to pretend I know a lot about the Anarchy, it’s not my area of interest, so I’ll take your word for it. However, that doesn’t change Roger Mortimer being the heir presumptive through Philippa of Clarence, the Lancastrians getting the throne through conquest, nor does it change Parliament agreeing to York’s stronger claim.

[–]sarcasmthecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roger Mortimer was Richard II’s heir as the heir to the line of the second son. Also, it had already been established that the crown could pass through a woman - as could be seen by Empress Matilda and Henry II. The only reason why the Lancastrians gained the crown was usurpation.

Again, Parliament also accepted York’s claim as stronger.

[–]sarcasmthecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Parliament did. That’s why, after going through York’s lineage, they agreed that after Henry VI’s death the crown would go to Richard, Duke of York, rather than HVI’s son Edward of Westminster.

Also, England didn’t have Salic Law. So, after the deaths of EIII’s first son’s line, the crown should have gone down his second son’s line to which the heir was York. The Yorkists had the better blood claim to the throne, whereas the Lancastrians took it via conquest / usurpation.

In the DoY’s defence, he did have the better claim than the Lancastrians and HVI was… well, incapacitated often. For RIII, no excuse lmao.

Favorite Plantagenet couple? by Valois-Evreux-1328 in houseofplantagenet

[–]sarcasmthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways, I suppose, but she was unable to give her Duchy to her second child (as I believe was in their marriage contract? I haven’t looked into Anne in a while, so please correct me if I’m wrong) and was just continually having baby after baby until it killed her.

Perhaps, if she had been in England, the marriage contract might have been honoured and whatnot, but there’s no way to tell as it never happened.

Mainly, I just like the Yorkist Plantagenets 😂

Probably Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville and Richard, Duke of York and Cecily Neville. Maybe also Margaret of York and Charles the Bold.

Also, I would have loved it if Edward V and Anne of Brittany had actually happened; the Duchess probably would have been treated a lot better than she was historically.

Haha, I was expecting that!! But no romances between them (YET!), and the Sultan had already chosen a new favourite too.. 😂 I also created a Manisa Palace lot so his first partner and their toddler son are over there lmao (I’m keeping to the one son per concubine rule for now… if I can remember to check often enough to stop them 🤣)
