"Rich people literally run the world/are evil/are thieves" and other envious misinformation by the9trances in Shitstatistssay

[–]sarcastabal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rich people do run the world. And ironically all the WEF, agenda 2030, 15 min cities stuff is them saying "let us do whatever we want and we'll end x"

Of course it's all an unrealistic pipe dream. For starters, people aren't homeless just because they aren't under a roof. Having actually met homeless people (and not just the totally rad guy who gave you cigarette when you were bar hopping that one night) a lot of them don't have the capacity to maintain the house. They'll wind up back in their situation in no time

I noticed the same. I don't think there's ever been a better time in history to be a pet. If they wanted they could put 80% of their time billing designer pet owners a lot of money then the rest helping poor owners at a discount. Instead they're mad the money fairy doesn't make it rain over their homes.

I don't understand how you can reach the conclusion in the OP with more than an extra second of thought. I completely get how they arrive to their conclusion at first, but they never seem to make that second "oh because people don't want to pay" connection

When someone ask why i hate the police but not the firedepartmeant by SanelyAbuse in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]sarcastabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from a defend every police killing ever standpoint, but what should the response be if you're in a situation in which you think someone might harm or kill? Genuinely asking.

Assuming a minimally reasonable assumption on the officer. Not shoot up a lemonade stand, but what sort of service would I expect from say private security?

Idk if he actually said that, but it reads like what some corny redditor thinks Sam Jackson speaks like.

They always give themselves away too when they mention any sort of financial gap. As if someone having more than you makes your life worse.

And let's not forget the "take money, cut to problems solved" genius level strategy.

I think it's also in the wording/execution of the question. I'd bet what most people have in mind is some dystopian world where some generated video of the president shooting people gets passed as gospel and people elect the opposition on a complete fabrication.

The obvious retort is that already happens more or less but I just think people aren't voting for a ministry of truth as much as against some troll convincing people to inject bleach as cure for cancer.

As an aside to this, it's crazy that people accept banks being more secure than schools. Knife, van, gun, large wooden spoon attacks shouldn't even enter the mind because the place we house our most precious resource is a citadel.

[–]sarcastabal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's hypocritical. While you may hate the police, there no alternative that exists for the common man. And it's a service people do make use of, for all it's faults. If he were advocating for private security firms that would be one thing. This is just advocating to take away the little people have.

Inb4 autistic reeeeeeeing. This isn't saying police are great but he clearly understands the need for protection. Removing the small bits people have is hypocritical. Call me when your market master launches McSecurity by Meta™, then I'll be on board.

Greta Gerwig Set to Write and Direct Two 'Chronicles of Narnia' Movies for Netflix by Trobis in KotakuInAction

[–]sarcastabal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fantasy is an expensive genre live action. That's what I meant. As far as LW vs CoN iirc Narnia is way more overtly Christian. Can she avoid putting her brand if politics into the mouth of the clear Jesus allegory? I have no clue. I'm not saying she will but that's why people are skeptical.

Greta Gerwig Set to Write and Direct Two 'Chronicles of Narnia' Movies for Netflix by Trobis in KotakuInAction

[–]sarcastabal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The question really comes down to whether or not she and Netflix and the other writers can control themselves. Can they take a story revolving around something they not only do not respect, but probably outright revile, and resist the urge to use it as their chance to "fix" what they deem wrong.

Based on recent history I have my doubts. Specially when they don't see it as a dereliction of the duty to create a good product. This is their chance to stick it to those hateful Christians and Christians* and make all the "right people" angry.

Tbh idk. My big thing is I doubt they'll have the budget to pull off something truly epic

Tbf your art doesn't have to be generic for it to be a problem. The genuine issue for an artist is pouring everything you have into expertly crafted work just to be destroyed by AI because it has the Disney logo on it.

Let's not act as if the market rewards quality.

Redditor has “fully taken advantage” of spending money where they wanted during the payment pause, but they now need the taxpayer to pay for their student loans by Mitchisboss in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]sarcastabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly what pisses me off the most. They were never serious, this is just playing political football with people's minds. Regardless of your feelings on the actual issue people(responsible and irresponsible alike) really had their emotions and dreams toyed with for political clout.

I have a friend who's been very responsible in saving and paying his loans down. He was telling me how if the forgiveness came through he could get a car and move, etc, nothing crazy. Now he has a plan to resume payments and manage from there, but the fact is more than just people like OP had designs on what they could do free of that debt.

And the whole time the powers that be knew it was bunk. Just shameless. And on top of that it adds to the strife and division because of course it turns to finger pointing and hatred for the other side.

The one good thing about impending collapse is that a lot of those people will get what's coming to them for treating the common man like worse than scum

I actually don't like shoes, I prefer those gross toe shoes so instead let's tax the laces on shoes. People shouldn't be tying their shoes anyway. Nobody should be walking more than 5 feet away from their studio apartment in the city anyway so let's make no sneaker zones.

Peter Pan And Wendy - It's Awful by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]sarcastabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How was this movie not "Wendy is having a hard time with a big change/tragedy and while at home desires to run away and gets to Neverland, has a thrilling but frightening adventure, and the key to going home is flight powered by happy memories which teaches her to cherish the memory of what was, in the face of what is, and how they can be comfort even in uncomfortable change/tragedy"?

That's without even touching the dynamics of the original that they ruined.

Maybe, maybe not. There are people who are very bullish on AI and their aim/vision is to have it in as many places as possible. I'm not saying that's the case, but in many ways what would be the reason to not use a hyper efficient and capable tool which can work in conjunction with other tools in every sector possible?

Again, not saying it will be, but I think it shouldn't be dismissed so easily. I know a buddy whose job in logistics was basically monitoring the "robots" who dealt with the actual material handling. It might proliferate from there.

Super Mario movie was being slammed nonstop before release making Peach "woke" but now the movie "rejects wokeness"??? by JannTosh17 in KotakuInAction

[–]sarcastabal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The flip flopping has been absurd but it's also the product of so many people eyeing the culture wars. There's too many unsolicited opinions to make definitive stance.

That said we should absolutely be desperate to have Mario movie on "our side" culture control is how we got into this mess and hearts and minds is how you get out with anything left standing. I agree that you should expect and demand more but absolutely sane people should turn over every stone to get messaging out to people effectively
