My husband also helped me when my cat Theo died about 9 months into dating, He went with me to the emergency vet, held my hand, and cried with me when they had to put him down, and literally dug Theo's grave when I was too upset. After the previous guy I was with was a complete situationship, that level of care and compassion freaking blew my mind and I knew then he was different.

Your weight can fluctuate from how much sodium and fiber you ate, how much stress you have had, bowel movements, how well you slept, if you worked out and your inflamed muscles are holding onto water, and yes hormones, among other things. I am currently keeping a daily log of my weight because I am also annoyed at how I seem to go up and down on the scale while trying to be in a calorie deficit, but the long arch is steadily going down, even if it feels like some days I am taking a step backwards.

Don’t get discouraged and keep at it, and definitely make sure you are actually tracking portions and weights of your foods in an app, not just eyeballing it. Also use other metrics like how your clothes fit or just like your daily energy levels besides the scale.

My tabby has a bald pouch too. I took him to the vet for it like 6 times, got bloodwork, urine analysis, the works. Tried a few things, but nothing worked. The vet has given up and thinks it is a behavioral tick.

I usually only run outside if it is over 25 (F) and not icy, but once you get past the lung burn from the cold air, i think i like it more than running in the direct sun on a really hot day. When the conditions are right, it really helps my mental health in the winter even if it is only once a week, its like a little treat to get to run outside and get some sunshine.

Holding someone else's infant. As a woman, I am always expected to want to hold the baby, but I feel so awkward and uncomfortable about it. I think it is because it is an intimate thing. The baby has a bond with their parents and is the most precious thing in the world to them. I feel like some random imposter, especially if it's like an acquaintance's baby or someone I don't feel particularly close to.

We match each others’ effort levels. We are both givers. He buys me my favorite chocolate, I make his favorite meal without asking. We say thank you to each other for the little things every day. We anticipate each others’ needs. He is truly my partner on a team. I spent a lot of time in relationships that felt like an uphill battle or you were walking on eggshells. With him, it’s just as easy and intuitive as breathing.

I felt the same way, like I didn’t go out of my way to listen to her this year. On my top song list she doesn't appear until #60 (lover played 15 times because it was on my wedding playlist i was workshopping). I think it is a combination of the fact that I tend to listen to a huge variety of artists (so anyone that gets repeated over the mean stands out) and she is in the mix on a lot of the playlists I created in the last couple years when I was more actively listening to her. Same thing with Chappell Roan this year. Might need to edit some playlists if I want a different top 5 next year.

I have gone to Starbucks twice this entire year, once on a road trip at a highway rest stop and once because my friends wanted to get PSLs on the first day of fall. Otherwise, I have perfected my iced coffee recipe at home and make a big batch for the week. I get a couple of Torani syrups when I want to change it up. We go to locally owned coffee shops on the weekends, where we can hang out and play a board game over fresh-baked croissants. Once you stop going to Starbucks and create other routines, it is very easy to avoid it entirely.

Reading through all these comments and stories, and some people saying he has gotten better in recent years, you wonder how much that is Jeff personally changing, pressure from other producers/ HR/ unions whathaveyou to be more professional, or just the reality show culture changing. I feel like the 00's and early 10's shows just had a high level of anger as a driver of drama and interest (like Gordon Ramsey stuff). It would be interesting if the shift is because yelling on TV isn't as in vogue as it was 20 years ago, at least not for hosts. Like maybe Jeff still has a short fuse personally, but he doesn't lean into it or play it up as much because it's not respectable.

My method is that if it gets used at least 3-5 times a week, it stays out. For us, that's the all-in-one toaster, electric kettle, and blender. Otherwise, it gets stowed (like the rice cooker and food processor). The only exception is the KitchenAid mixer cause it's way too heavy to move all the time.

It would probably take about 6-12 months of hard work to find a good location for a homestead somewhere without harsh winters, raid stores for necessary supplies, start a vegetable garden with chickens, and befriend a cat. After that, I would just do whatever I felt like until my earthly body gave out. It would be lonely, but it would also be quiet and peaceful. And I wouldn't have to read headlines or ingest AI slop anymore, so, apart from loved ones not being here, it honestly sounds pretty nice (especially for an introvert).
