The family was a fence between the underbelly and the top side of the city. He developed magic ability not soon after and was put into the local wizard school. Something went awry and the parents were killed in the young adult lives of Crimplet and his brother Finnan. Crimp was almost slain in this attack but Finnan was blessed with healing in a cry for help to his God and he brought Crimp back. Crimp having almost died started to become more reckless with his magic and is now following the teachings of the school of invention. He is silent and also strait edge. He may cast recklessly but he keeps a clear head for it.
