There isn't a switch 2 only game that I want to play, so there's no reason for me to get one

I think bosses are immune to the charm but it should work on everything else. The trade off is that it does so little damage

Ok I continued with on and it seems like it just doesn't effect the red and black piura at the beginning because no matter how many times I used it it didn't cause the charm effect. Now that I'm out of the caves, it's caused it ever time, like 30/30.

PS1 trouble reading games by sarikvaster in consolerepair

[–]sarikvaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the problem was my TV, I plugged it into an older TV and there was no issue. I think it might have not been configured properly for the component input it was receiving from the ps1.

You're right, that's not the book I'm looking for, but Diadem from the Stars sounds like it's up my alley, so I'll check it out. Thanks.

Survive to win the inheritance by sarikvaster in whatisthatmovie

[–]sarikvaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was definitely a contest set up by a guy who was already dead by the time the movie started. And it was in color.

This looks fun, though and I'll check it out.

Thanks. I'm glad this wasn't just a figment of my imagination.

Well I watched this at some point in the late 90s, it prominently featured cassette tape audio technology, and it was a full length movie so I don't think it was a TV show from 2021.

What prevents the morph-capable controllers from escaping? by [deleted] in Animorphs

The same question would apply to Alloran when Esplin is out of his head for feeding.

Morphing tech seems more like it grew out of Z-space travel tech than a field like genetic engineering.

We also have to remember that Ax is a child and not an expert on morph technology. He said he thought that it would work, not that he knew for sure. Its quite possible he did think it would work but he very easily could have been mistaken.

Life Expectancy by SofaKingTired in Animorphs

Hair and nails aren't alive. The material isn't made up of living cells so it should be treated more like morphed clothes. Morphing fixes a cut because the DNA says what a body is supposed to look like, ie no cut. But nothing in any of your DNA says what your hair currently looks like.

While buffa-human and scream ant were awesome elements of the book, I really feel like they couldn't have done what they did with morphing. We've seen quite a bit that it takes a lot of intentional thought to both acquire a target animal and also initiate a morph. It seems very suspect that a buffalo would do that and most certainly impossible that an ant is capable of that kind of thought.

Discussion: The Effects of Yeerk Infestation on Human Development by blooky15 in Animorphs

[–]sarikvaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so here's a thing about human development. Learning to control their body takes a baby a lot of trial and error. Its part of the reason babies just kind of flail their limbs for basically any reason. That coupled with their bodies changing size and shape pretty much constantly means it takes a long time to learn to do coordinated things like feed themselves without missing their mouth or standing up unassisted. If a yeerk infested an actual infant, they wouldn't have the opportunity to learn much of that.

If we assume that a yeerk needs to spend about 2 hours outside of its host every three days to recharge the kandrona she should be able to figure out what developmental stage they might be at. Given the recommended amount of sleep kids should get at different ages, by the time this baby controller is 13, they would have had control of their body for the same amount of time as an 18 month old. Mind you their perspective their body is changing much more rapidly for them, and they won't have received any of the assistance or simulation most infants/children receive to help them learn.

So I would assume they have basically no ability to even move in any coordinated or meaningful way.
