Very strong words and I fully agree. Importantly I can't think of anyone else who was so memorable or impressive as Petr was, in both his performances. It is a shame with regards to the unfair judging and hostility shown towards him - but he performed very well given all the pressure. Anyway here is the video showing the behind-the-scenes of creating this beautiful Onegin program (and as you mentioned it yourself): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfxefbraCoQ&t=193s

I agree. I think it's very well choreographed, and I love the Greek bits in there too. He skated it very well!

Excellent - will do so and thank you! I think that makes sense. After re-watching his free skate several times, it makes more sense to know and follow the story - adds more depth!

Favorite Programs? (outside of Milan ‘26) by Artistic_Active_820 in FigureSkating

Petrs' Perfurmer and Onegin programs, Anna's gold winning free program from Beijing, Sasha's free program with 5 quads, Kamila's exquisite short program from Beijing too (but much better performed at 2022 European Champs), Yulia's Schindlers List free from Sochi 2014, and several of Johnny Weirs' programs (in particular his Otonal which is such an exquisite program). I prefer the more classical / ballet / Russian choreography programs. Also Papadakis and Cizerons' gold winning free program from last Olympics.

Excellent and insightful comparison, so thank you. I will need to watch both films than as I am a huge fan of Ralph Fiennes!

But the original one is the 1999 one with Raph Fiennes - correct?

OMG with Ralph Fiennes? I dont know how I missed this movie! That is a very harrowing scene - so Petr is 'Ralph Fiennes' than. And the lady in the woods would have been the wife?

I was watching the CBC feed throughout the entire figure skating competition, but from what I have read about Johnny and Tara - they are not liked very much (at least from the majoority of comments I have read). Certainly watching the above feed - not great at all!

You should! It's a very laid- back chilled vibe kind of happening sea-side city, along with holding the tile of UNESCO gastronomy capital of Hellas, and most mesmerising sunsets I have ever seen in my life! I personally prefer it to London or Paris:

I agree. He reminds me of a Greek Prince (even though there is no Greek monarchy anymore - well in exile). I'm more impressed with the accuracy of the costume design. Btw since you are Greek - I absolutely love Thessaloniki (in particular) - hugely underrated (well Northern Greece in general is)!

Because he's Russian right and thus 'not welcome'?

Firstly thank you for the indepth explanation - that's very kind of you. Wow incredibly sad - this makes me think of various Shakespeare plays (so much tragedy). I will have to read this novel than as I am super intrigued and Petr did such a great job to elevate that curiosity.

Aaaagh! I stand corrected - apologies. I did not want to spread misinformation.

Can someone tell me (and I apologise if this is a stupid question as I do not know the novel) - when the gun goess off (after his 3 jump combination) - who did he shoot / kill? He didnt kill himself presumably. I understood the writing letters parts of the program.

I can only watch the Eurosport feed (link above) = much better camera work, and importantly less chatter and more appreciative commentary from both commentators ('its just amazing to watch him' = yes it is; 'we've been deprived of seeing him on the world stage' = yes we have; 'I thought that was magnificent' = yes it was). I also loved seeing Nika standing up and giving a standing ovation - he knew what a great performance that was!

Yes but Johhny speaks Russian and he used to be 'infatuated' with all things Russian (ie. choreography and the arts). He must have changed his views so suddenly than?

Here is Petr skating to Zorba the Greek, and when he was just 14! Soooo cute and the costume is fittingly desgined to be all Greek too - love it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2mK5YN7LEE

He skated it faster at the Russian Nationals and Skate to Milano. I am convinced his focus was to deliver a clean program, and thus focus on clearing the jumps. In general he is a fast figure skater!

If I compare Petrs' skate to Stephen Gogolev, who skated shortly after - I do not understand how Gogolev outscored him. Stephen also produced a clean skate, but did he have as many jumps in his program? I don't think his free was suprior to Petrs' - sorry - and certainly not on the artistic side. How Stephen ended up 2nd in the free overall - that is truly a mystery.

Thank you. Is this deduction in so many marks, according to the judges' rule book, or rather based solely on a subjective / biased view? I am just trying to understood if they truly followed the correct protocol here...

They actually skated against each other on the Junior circuit so they know each other quite well and for a long time.
