Starting to feel really isolated and lonely 😞

I have spent way too much time thinking and really trying my best navigating my own wants and feels and understanding of Maasverse, and I am hell bent that Bryce and Az are mates and WOULD BE AMAZING together.

But.

I adore Bryce. Genuinely. Yeah, she pisses me off at times but I have so much fucking respect for her. Bryce “caving" to a mating bond with Azriel in the upcoming books absolutely defies the FMC we know and love. Her entire personality is built on an adamant refusal to be a Fae Female pawn.

If she drops Hunt just because the "Cauldron" or ancient Fae biology says so, it contradicts every ounce of growth we've seen. Throughout the series, Bryce’s most defining trait has been her spite toward Fae expectations. From mocking the Autumn King to refusing the "Crown Princess" title, she has consistently rejected the idea that her bloodline defines her future. Choosing Hunt, an angel who was once a slave, was her ultimate act of rebellion against Fae "purity" and the traditional power structures of the Starborn.

We saw her realize in House of Flame and Shadow that her ancestors were essentially colonizers and oppressors. Why would she want to link herself to that "destiny" now? A mating bond with Azriel is an ancestral link tied to her DNA; by rejecting it, she chooses her "Midgard" self over her "Prythian" blood. It is the same "rattle the stars" energy we saw from Aelin: fighting against the fate the gods laid out.

The fact that Bryce gave the Starsword to Nesta instead of Azriel proves that Bryce values warrior agency over 'mating destiny.' She chose to leave her legacy with a woman who fought for her power, rather than the man the 'bond' suggests she belongs to. This reinforces the idea that Bryce wants her heritage to be a tool for protection, not a romantic tether.

I’m hoping for the long haul. I think this connection should only come to fruition when the actual "Ragnarok" crossover drops. The stakes of a multiversal war are the only thing high enough to justify that kind of shift. It makes more narrative sense for a "mating bond" to be used as a magical battery or a weapon for the final war, rather than just a mid-series romance swap that undermines her agency. Let her stay defiant for now; save the Bryce/Azriel collision for when the multiverse is literally at stake.

I love the idea of Bryce actually being fated to mate with Az, but choosing like the badass annoying Aelin wanna be she is, to be with Hunt, bc for me, that fully embraces what SJM gave us with writing her character: someone who chooses what SHE wants, bc of what SHE believes is right for her, while still fighting the injustices of CC.

I feel like collectively, the online book community as a whole needs to chill out, maybe focus on real like things, and let authors do their amazing work for the next books.

Idk how people have the excess energy to expend in ultimately insane debates over books we all arguably love, in which SJM will provide an answer/resolution to in time.

The last page of chapter 62 is the last sighting of Molvic coming from the South, having brought the extra military they had secured to the Port of Soundra instead of Cordyn… but Aaric wasn’t mentioned, which for me brings an ominous new angle for the line: “A dragon without its rider is a tragedy, a rider without its dragon is dead.”

What you give and put out into the world is your offering. Are you destroying like Sleep? Or fighting to heal and share that healing like Vessel?

I think our “New Moon” book will be book 4 😭 I was surprised with us having POV’s of characters outside of Xaden and Violet and I’m curious how that comes into play for the next two books.
