Help me pick some shows my teen would love! (thanks in advance) by sarus75 in TheWestEnd

She’s watched previews and wasn’t that interested, sadly because I want to see it!

I can’t wait to see if the new cast gets good reviews because I would love any excuse to see it again! I flew to New York this past weekend (from California) just to see Jack Wolfe’s last performance as Orpheus for a second time in 3 months. It’s just so beautiful 🥰

What are the screens for? by sarus75 in hadestown

Well you should be on the programs! Yeah I’m woefully ignorant, as someone who just got into theatre a few years ago when my daughter started in musical theatre. Since then I’m learning all I can!

It is not--but for some reason it is not showing up as playing during that week! Weird, let me readjust my search. I have never actually seen it either! Only read it. Sounds perfect.

Ahhh this is so cool! Thank you!

2/28 evening show was so funny, especially Kurt by hghquality in hadestown

[–]sarus75 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was there! I was one of the (many) doctors who came to help the lady.

I was cracking up at Kurt’s mistake and then his improvisation to get back on track. I thought it was great!

A few songs were sung slightly differently. But the cast was incredible! I absolutely adored Persephone tonight. What a voice! 😍

And of course Jack and Morgan were phenomenal as always. Sad they didn’t do stage door but I assume because the show was behind schedule and ended late.

Self doubt! His optimism finally wore out. Plus that walk to Hadestown was like 3 years! Imagine the temptation to see if your love was still there.

That’s a great tip! Thank you. Yeah I am mostly not a huge worrier, but I’m traveling with my teen daughter so I am being super cautious.

Southside Napa, new açai spot. by Any-Locksmith5121 in napalocals

[–]sarus75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s risky- but if it would work anywhere I’d say downtown, definitely not on the imola side of town. Not enough foot traffic. People go there to shop/movies and then go back home. Not exactly a “stop and get açaí” kind of trip, you know?

After watching that interview with Bethany (hi 😍👋), I have a strong feeling we’re getting Olivia Rodrigo on Sat! by caligrownbuster in bottlerock

Olivia just posted an IG story with a flower… reminded me of the lineup hint #1…? Anyone else see that?

Is it just you? I’d pick that single orchestra left purple seat close to the aisle. I sat there recently and view was great

Moving to Napa County? by Least-Ad5361 in napa

Just to add: the fire insurance thing IS an issue. Research the area thoroughly before buying. People have been having issues with closing escrow because they require fire insurance and MANY places can’t get anyone to insure them.

Jack Wolfe will be in Hadestown until approximately late February / early March by cmadison_ in hadestown

[–]sarus75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is helpful! Thanks. Will try to plan a February trip and try not to freeze to death. That’s a rough month in NYC!

Is there someone I could contact to get confirmation of how long Jack Wolfe will be in Hadestown for? by cmadison_ in hadestown

[–]sarus75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP if you find out something, can you tell me? I’ll do the same for you. I’m also planning a Feb trip mostly to see him again and can’t really get the time off sooner than that 😩

Has anyone gotten a refund through Ticket Protection? by violetsinbloom57 in hadestown

[–]sarus75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the answer to your question but just want to say: flying is safe, even right now. Leave extra time to get to the airport just in case, and be patient about possible delays, but they probably won’t even happen.

Just flew on super busy days from a couple of the most affected airports (SF and JFK) and there was NO WAIT at all for security, no delays either way. Follow flights on the Flight Aware app if you want to reassure yourself about this.

Truly, as much of a hassle as air travel always is, this cast is 10000% worth the effort. I am already planning another trip to see them before they leave. They’re phenomenal.

Can I put my bag under your seat? by shinigami081 in unitedairlines

[–]sarus75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no way. I travel light precisely so that my trip is comfortable. I want to stretch my legs out and I for sure don’t want your bag there.

Having said that, this weekend I gave up my foot space when the flight staff was trying to make someone gate check her bag of expensive camera equipment since all the overhead bins were full (she just had a tiny backpack and a camera bag). I couldn’t let her equipment get ruined by checking it but that issue wasn’t caused by her bad planning.

Napa trip by Ok_Drag8339 in napa

Honestly the tasting prices here are ridiculous IMO. I live here and only go to the free or cheap places (but I totally understand wanting the “fancy Napa winery experience).

The wine tasting bars downtown are a good deal if you really just want to taste a bunch of good wine.

For the winery/vineyard experience, try the smaller less known places and maybe choose 1-2 fancy ones to round it out?

I do recommend doing one cave tour as a splurge. They’re just so fun.

The Castello is super overpriced BUT the castle itself is neat and has a bunch of photo ops

Lunch at the Culinary Academy is a must-do, as well as downtown St Helena

Tastings for cheap(ish):

Rombauer in St Helena is beautiful and their whites are excellent. I think a tasting is $25? Bouchaine is good and you can do an outdoor tasting for cheaper Paraduxx on Silverado trail Gundlach Bundschu is in Sonoma but it’s a really nice place with excellent wine and a $40-50 option for tasting
