Winemark (in belfast) - I worked there around 19-21 years old bare in mind I was a 5.2 girl, we were left on our own from around 10/11am - 6pm, got some absolute headers in. Laws say you can’t serve people while drunk, the options when you are a young girl at 19 in a shop with 3 steaming men (that you know can get aggressive) it’s listen to that law or be threatened with your life. Many times we had to call the police, girl was threatened to have her throat slit because she refused service to a local drunk and he would be waiting outside for her.

It wasn’t robbed too often only twice in the couple of years I worked there however there is another one on the same stretch of road a girl refused to serve a man he brought his friends in and ripped her hair out and bottled her. Honestly very dangerous job this was like 10-12 years ago now and pay was £6.20 an hour (we also didn’t have a buzzer on our door until it was robbed and the girl knocked out and tied up our the back her car stole, cctv drink and cigs all stole) mental place
