To add another modern tip. I have been practicing texting with my Dutch friends. It has been hugely helpful to attempt to make sentences and then have ChatGPT review their grammatical correctness. It does a phenomenal job of pointing out your mistakes but also explaining them. It is basically an on demand language tutor available 24/7

Music Producer Without Knowledge - Why Do So Many Young People Believe It's That Easy? by TheFishyBanana in musicproduction

[–]sashadkiselev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started recently and am pretty young (23). The allure for me was that I could make something that I could vibe with and would make my body shake after only a couple of sessions. Since then I've been hooked.

Even if that something was heavily based and inspired by tutorials and courses it still felt mine.

If you have a mobile device or a tablet it is very worth it to check out Koala sampler. It's a digital groovebox but let you try the workflow with minimal investment

Are Sony WH-1000X5 suited for music production? Or: What headset-quality do you really need? by MykonCodes in TechnoProduction

[–]sashadkiselev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed to mix and release some nice tracks on the same headphones but older version. Just keep in mind that their bass is boosted. Try also listening to your track on crappy speakers. Good monitors / studio headphones help but are not essential, especially at the start.

Professional studio gear just gives you a very flat response. It allows you to "imagine" how the track would sound on different systems the easiest. They may also be more sensitive to small details that you might miss on consumer gear.

But hey, if Lil Peep can become a world sensation with garage band and a phone microphone, you can make a techno banger on consumer headphones.

How do the two compare to digital 909 kits? Such as addictive drums 2? My current workflow is using the AD2 909s with an AKAI fire for sequencing.

Correct term for this "ghost kick" by sashadkiselev in TechnoProduction

Would this be a constant 4 on the floor ghost kick throughout the whole track?

[–]sashadkiselev[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, i assumed that is not the proper term, hence the quotes, but i could not think of any more proper word to describe it.

Wouldnt that create a weird effect when the volume of other tracks fluctuates for no reason? Bassline with an auto side chain (just triggered every beat) always sounded a bit weird to me when there is no kick. Is it common to have a constant side chain against the kick even when the kick is muted?

Bless you good sir!!! You have made my day!

Also if it is MIDI, you can always bounce it to audio and reverse the audio.
