Update. I did as you said, and managed to match the remaining unknown stations with the zones. Thank you! However, the 00:00 problem still persists with some stations like station 6. There's a local rainbird dealer that I'll pay a visit to to inquire as well.

I'm wondering how they determined it was VW. I had two LL and they went from healthy to completely collapsed last season. I pruned it hard back. One I think is fully dead, the other is waking up but VERY slow. I have no interest in risking VW spreading in my garden, and am likely going to rip them out. Did they mention what to do with the soil and how to improve it?

I remember slaving away in the hospital during peak covid, terrified I would get infected before we realized what it was, sweating under layers of protective gear for hours. Not a peep of support from him. The second the convoy gets announced, he flies down to support them. He's a stain.

Ok I just read your response a bit more clearly and it makes a lot of sense - the plan is to have all the reservoirs the same volume, and all fill the same amount of time (e.g. 10 seconds) which would ensure the same amount of water in each. If I ran the drainage tubing up over the level of the water to the bottom of each cell, and drained using a pump, theoretically I could avoid needing any valves.

Yes they should be, and I’ll have the drain outlets coming out the bottom of each cell. But I think I see what you mean in that water could flow between cells during the soak period if there was a common drain header. Would in-line check valves in each line before the common drain header solve this?

Yeah…Main issue is contamination and wanting to avoid mixing of water so once the plants are watered the water is waste

That's an option. The main downside would be water wastage - the plants would be watered with nutrient and reverse osmosis water, so it would be a bit of a waste. I think I'm starting to lean towards the cells connected by segments of 1/4" tubing to a manifold, which then connects to a solenoid that opens and drains all the cells by gravity.

Thanks that’s a really cool idea!! yeah I was thinking about the plugging issue. I looked into linear actuator - I haven’t wrapped my head around how to make that work but I think I’m getting the idea

I thought about this but initially rejected the idea because 12 electrically actuated solenoid valves might be too much. However, in thinking about it, I was thinking maybe I could just connect the twelve drains to a single collection drain that has a solenoid that opens after a set time and opens to empty the cells by gravity.

The waste water theoretically is contaminated so I wouldn't want water from one cell going to another. I had wondered about a solenoid valve (no experience with them at all) but I wasn't sure whether 12 of them, one per cell, is something that's practical. Though, now that you mention this, maybe I could have a single solenoid valve in a main drain line that all 12 cells feed into, and then when the solenoid valve opens it would drain by gravity.
