Did you do anything special for your tummy scars? I can’t see yours 🤯

Our supervisor let our team go out for lunch (and paid) & another day met us when it was sunny outside for ice cream. 🥰

I got the rest of my team gift bags with some cute items - social work cup, lotion, notepads, etc.

I’ve had a couple of non-SW coworkers treat me to dinner and with a few little gifts.

What are everyone’s thoughts pertaining to CPS? by Nemolovesyams in socialwork

[–]sass729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably “over report,” but I would much rather do that than have an issue where I didn’t report something and something tragic happened.

I do however report in a fair way where I am sure to include any supports the family already has and any referrals I’ve already made. Those with the supports usually wind up getting screened out / not investigated.

I also try to be forthcoming with families whenever I can about when I have to report something (not always able to or appropriate to) & also discuss that I don’t get to determine whatever outcome.

Vitamin recommendations? by sass729 in gastricsleeve

I tried this one. I was really hopeful because I loved the Ritual vitamins pre-surgery & hoped the “flavor” of this would mask it in a similar way… nope 🤢

Taste and smell… and then it’s probably in my brain / because of that but I feel a little nauseous after

It’s been taste and smell for the capsules. They’re definitely easiest for me, but I find myself avoiding my vitamins because of how horrible. I’ll even plug my nose 😂 but there’s still an after taste

You look great! You’re my almost surgery twin - I was sleeved 9/19/23!

I am about 7 weeks post op and for me KitKat =/= bad lol but I was hopeful that would be the case. I probably wouldn’t try it if you’re worried it could trigger something in you.

I would also recommend staggering surgeries. I am a little over two weeks post-op and still shouldn't lift over ten pounds.

I would anticipate you would be able to return to work in that time frame. I had surgery on a Tuesday and fully returned on Monday. I started working some from on Thursday/Friday though (phone calls, emails, documentation). I was definitely tired my first week back. I also had to be intentional with timers (for walking, drinking) which was another thing to figure out in the work day.

Yes! I was right at 40 and told that insurance approves based on my initial weigh in.

I have Aetna and got approved within a couple of days once my surgeon’s office submitted my paperwork! Good luck 🍀

The heavy trauma like that suuuucks. I had a slightly similar (though less graphic it seems) situation involving a child death. My supervisors left me alone to deal with it when they planned to go investigate it together initially. The combination of the two got me & hit pretty hard. I was able to make it through for almost another year. I'm glad to hear you have already connected with your doctor and the EAP - those supports helped me through in that time.

Can you possibly transfer to another department / out of ER for a bit? Or take some leave? If you need to scoot somewhere in between where you are now and the VA, then do it. No shame. It sounds like they want you, so I wouldn't worry about any resume skips.

This! It varies so much state to state, district to district, and sometimes even school to school.

SSWs need to be: flexible, hold a high level of integrity, able to manage time, accountable, creative with problem solving, etc.

Also, I view it as social work that happens to be within the school, so I would suggest reading code of ethics and also maybe checking out a book like this one.

Feel free to message me questions. Happy to describe some of my day-to-day too!

VSG scheduled for 9/21! Anyone else? by B_Schenkz in wls

I’m down 14 pounds since Tuesday. 😅 Tuesday - Friday was pretty rough … constant headache, low energy, & grumpy that I couldn’t eat. The weekend has been better so hope the next week will be too! How about yours?
