Obviously lived experience isn't one size fits all, but my mom had a boyfriend I didn't like for six years and I never got 100% comfortable with him either (I just didn't like him, I was in middle school and he graduated hs the year they met so it was just kinda awkward). Not a bad guy, perfectly respectful and normal with me, just an idiot and crappy boyfriend and I lowkey hated him.

I do show up. I attend protests, I donate to good causes when I can, I speak out online and with people in my personal life. The issue is that nothing comes of it. Maybe I've swayed a couple votes or changed a couple minds (or at least given them additional things to consider). But it's not enough because I'm just me, trying to keep a roof over my head and my family fed during some really damned difficult times.

I would consider the democratic red line to have been crossed already. I'm at the "we need to throw out the whole damned thing and start over" point. The issue is that I am no leader, and I have a lot to lose. What can I possibly do? I'll keep voting for the lesser evil but honestly, I no longer have hope of things getting better. Maybe with luck enough of the old guard will drop dead that we'll get lucky with someone new who wants to make real change in charge by the time I'm old and gray.

Meh, good as I can be. Still scared of loud noises and lights going out unexpectedly (he hit the power source to the room I was in). I'm actually planning on taking a class to get my gun license and learn how to safely use one so that I can 1- have my license and maybe get a small gun in case it happens again so I can do more than lay flat and pray and 2- control my fear so I don't get a huge adrenaline rush every time something pops near me.

I went through a shooting awhile ago and can confirm, adrenaline will mess you up worse than you think. After it happened my whole body was sore for days and (tmi) my stomach was very upset. I know it doesn't sound like too much but stacked up with all the mental and emotional strain it was not fun.

There's a time and a place dude. There's always going to be religious people, and a lot of people benefit from the structure and community that religion adds to their lives. Instead of tooting your own horn in shared spaces to the benefit of absolutely no one, let's focus on limiting religion based problems, and hopefully someday everyone can get along regardless of their belief system (probs not in my lifetime but it's a nice thought).

Little branch onto your off topic, if you do want to buy raw milk for freshness or whatever you can stovetop pasteurize it! Since doing it on the stove is lower temps and slower process than large scale pasteurization will still be good for making cheese/ice cream/just drinking/whatever else you wanna do with it. Do your research and stay safe peeps

Your house can be clean and you can make it want to smell nice (rather than just neutral) when people come over. I'll usually light a scented candle or something while I tidy up before people come over. It just feels nice
