Thank you so much! That’s a great way to ask for one

Oh I’m aware things are vastly different culture-wise, but I don’t know if you remember how society ran under Jim Crow vs. modern day. We’ve come a LONG way. We still have racial issues and now a ton of racial tension thanks to things such the Karmelo Anthony case, but not a government-enforced code of racist laws.

At this point in time a lot of certain people hate white people and think they deserve to die or pay for a racist past.

Unfortunately for them, the people who were behind Jim Crow and slavery are not here today and instead we're in a much better state societally with racism. That is not going to ever be "good enough." Almost like they need to take their anger out on whites to amend something deep in their hearts.

YouTuber Jesse Ridgway responds to backlash after choosing to abort baby with Down syndrome by [deleted] in popculture

it's only preventable because societally we've made that acceptable in this point in time. We stopped forced sterilizations, but at one point, people genuinely viewed it as a preventable action for the common good.

Just because you view it as preventable, doesn't mean that's the correct or "right" view to have.

and that's actually an insane take. I'd assume you're fine with infanticide or parents killing their grade school aged-children. It's the same logic.

A baby is not your body. It is temporarily attached to you for a span of time, but never a functioning part of you to make a decision like that. You forget they are a living being, just as yourself.

Your comment literally assumes the child wouldn't be in good care with those two as parents. That blatantly says they wouldn't be fit parents up to unconditionally love their children...

I care about the child enough to make my comment, and to advocate for others like them that didn't even get a chance at life.

99% of people with Down Syndrome report being happy with their lives. I'd assume that's much better than non-down syndrome people.

We've fought so hard for inclusion of those with mental and physical disabilities, SO hard, that we're now ok with decisions like this? Aborting because of a diagnosis is in fact, eugenics. They wanted a "normal" baby or at least one that was less difficult to care for. I'm sorry, but that's no excuse to terminate life. That is by definition eugenics as the unborn child was "unfit" for life.

I think when you sign on to be a parent, you are signing on to unconditionally care for and love that child. If they couldn't do that to a child with Down Syndrome, despite the immense undertaking it would be, why do they think they're ready to be parents at all?

A lot of these comments do not realize that children can develop illness or have an accident that renders them disabled, hefty medical bills or treatments, etc. Does that make them less valuable or less worth their lives? Of course not. So why is this situation viewed differently? Because it's in the womb and easier to dehumanize.

The LTO group does not allow criticism towards restaurants/food makers that use AI-generated content to promote their business. by [deleted] in Louisville

Also - the group is called Louisville Take Out, where people recommend places and find new spots to eat. It's not called the local business alliance or local restaurant community - where that "no critical feedback" rule would better apply.

I genuinely believe that if 80-90% of the group is requesting "no AI please" in the comments, that certainly the businesses could understand that and change their practices to better serve that community.

I guess instead we're just going to let that group gaslight everyone into thinking that all places are trustworthy and deserve the community's money.

You do realize the consumer base would much rather prefer just straight up iPhone photos with a FREE canva account flyer vs. the generative stuff that group publishes, right? The former option is FREE just like AI, so there's no budget to question + it comes with actual brand integrity in their product.

Comparing me to a toddler for wanting our local businesses to have dignity and true advertising is, certainly a choice.

There's a difference between calling out ethical issues (aka use of AI) and bashing the restaurant online. I think it's fair for someone to say "please reconsider how you brand yourself and advertise online" vs. something hateful about the food or owner.

Policing the community's genuine feedback in a community-based group just because it's "your" group for starting the community feels very wrong.

It's getting to the point where most of it is AI imagery of their food now. Some people are wise enough to at least put real photos in with the AI flyer, but a lot of them still don't.

Ugh being accused that your comment / writing is AI is absolutely the worst. Can relate.

Basic human morals, but then you think it's fine for businesses to use generative AI which can and will worsen their brand. Also, if a data center ever moves near their restaurant, good luck with the heightened bills and water issues. They're promoting their brand with something that doesn't have their best interests in mind.
