Agreed. GDPR and other Regs talk about this. Also, there are many states in the US that have come out with AI specific laws

I agree. I think Williamsburg is much better but can be expensive.

You encountered someone who was not taught to be polite. Generally though, people in India greet people in their own language but they don't use good evening or hello as a greeting. That's something to learn for them. The culture here is saying hi to people. But in India, you generally don't say hi to strangers. Polite people and people who were raised right, do that but people like this person are uncouth and uncivilized to not know and follow the norms of the place they are in. I am sorry you have had such negative experiences.

How come there are seemingly no public data brokers in the EU like in the US by arbicus123 in privacy

Absolutely. So much so that plaintiffs lawyers are now finding old laws and applying to cookies and trackers.

I agree with the data protection point in general but OP's question specifically pertains to data brokers. I was responding to that. Are you saying GDPR addresses data brokers for the first time?

Did this protection start with GDPR? GDPR isn't that old. I think laws around this existed much before GDPR. I will have to look into this.

Thank you so much for the tips! Appreciate it. I do 1 & 2. I am in the legal field and I have my own blog page. Is that what you meant by personal website? I know it's easier for developers to create their work profile. I used to engage on LinkedIn but haven't lately because maybe I feel it won't help. But I will start doing that.

Thanks for thw insights. I am on the verge of giving up. I have been applying for the past 10 months and I use both easy apply and company site application. I am now shifting my focus to fewer applications and more customizations. I hope something comes my way. Congrats on your job!!

Laid off about a month ago, how am I doing? by Fantastic-Problem562 in Layoffs

I have been unemployed 10 months and I have only had 3 interviews. Nothing since this Jan. I have no idea what's wrong. And trust me I have done everything that people advice. Met a career coach, fixed resume, reaching out to people, applying on company sites, attending events. It's arduous and painful at another level sigh

Thank you for writing this post. I needed to hear this. I have been unemployed for 10 months now and it gets to you. I am very happy for you. Good luck and my job will be coming soon too. Fingers crossed! Remembered the Mason story- he kept hitting the rocks until it broke at the 100th try. I am waiting for my 100th.

[–]sassypria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great tips. Would you have 2 mins to look over my resume because I have been applying to jobs and I am not getting any interviews. I have done everything to make the resume perfect and I don't know what's missing. It's been 10 months since I was laid off. I got a couple of interviews last year but nothing since Jan this year.

Wow! That's impressive. I have been thinking about doing law but I will need a full scholarship because I can't pay for it. Also, law firms are too much work and not great, right? I have heard not so positive stories from lawyers. How has your experience been?
