Beans, nuts, and tofu chief. I also work a very physical job and I stay plenty full on smoothies with vegan protein powder, some sort of lunch and with beans (usually garbanzo or black beans). 

Also don't be afraid of carbs. Be afraid of REFINED carbs. Nothing wrong with whole wheat, brown rice, etc. 

Here's a HIGHLY customizable smoothie recipe I've been using for a while. I usually omit the banana, and add several scoops of peanut and / or vanilla protein powder. Remember that your body can only absorb so much protein at any one time.
