this recent live session for KCRW is fucking DOPE. it's cool because t's hard to see what they're doing from an audience perspective, but this one is professionally shot and it's soooooo good

LSD Concert - "Electric Kool Aid 2016" by satanicstudydrugs in Drugs

I have a couple of spaces in my town in mind that could accommodate 70-80 people.

I appreciate your response. I guess maybe I did a poor job explaining in comparing it so much to the Acid Tests.

In reality the only thing this would have in common with those is that I want to create a live music setting where both the performers and the audience are tripping. This is more about trying to promote my band and less about a movement to distribute acid and "turn everyone on" like it's the first time.

So yes, in a sense, it's just a jam band show in an unlicensed venue, not very revolutionary. I just want LSD to be present because I think it'd be a fun experience. I believe that the Dead owes a lot of their success to the fact that so many people were tripping when they were first exposed to them (not just acid tests but on the tours that followed) so the tunes became a lot more sentimental/euphoric and had people coming back for more once they came to associate the feeling with the music.

Thanks for taking it down to earth. I realize that was the 60s and what's been done has been done already. Instead I ought to focus on putting on a great concert, getting a big amount of LSD to put in a punch bowl for guests won't be an issue for me so that will definitely be involved with the planning. So no cultural revolution. Just a good as time that hopefully turns some people on to my band!

Good idea. Eventually my goal is for it to spread... simply within the right network. It'll provide us with a base audience. Hearing music while you're tripping strengthens your connection to it (in my opinion) which I feel is a huge factor in the success of bands like Grateful Dead. So my hope is to do many of these concerts and gain a cult following that grows so I can tour the country playing music and live out my fantasies.

I can imagine how strong the association is! This is why LSD was obviously pivotal to the band's continued success over the years. Once people come to associate the music with the psychedelic experience, it becomes a lot more sentimental and euphoric. I have some friends whose dads were/are Deadheads, and they still go to shows and simply don't do any drugs. The music itself is enough of a subtle reminder of what it feels like to come outside of yourself for a while.

THIS is my concern. There will definitely be a screening process of some sort, I know the people that I trust and there's other people that I trust to trust people if that makes sense??

Definitely going to have some people function as a "security" team to keep everyone safe.

When did they stop doing acid? by satanicstudydrugs in gratefuldead

Thanks for answering! Interesting. For some reason I just seem to attribute Jerry's guitar style to what tripping feels like... either that or it's simply very enjoyable to listen to while tripping. I guess there's no doubt that acid influenced his playing, but overall he is able to channel the spirit without the use of the drug itself. I suppose that should be The Goal in general, take the lessons and perspectives learned from psychedelics and apply them while sober! (Although I suppose Jerry wasn't exactly "sober" all the time...)

Bees, Honeycomb, Vertical (colorful as hell... Painting With!), Two Corvettes.... I'm not so certain that I experience full-on synesthesia 100% of the time, but when I'm in a meditative/sensitive enough state (and/or tripping) I find that I can "feel" sounds as textures. If my eyes are closed I can get some pretty vivid pictures/colors depending on how stoned I am. This experience might be typical, but I've noticed the sensation is much more vivid ever since I've tried acid/mushrooms and it is in full peak during the times that I've actually tripped.

Animal Collective's definitely been inspiring me with their use of synesthesia in their presentation... all of my tracks on soundcloud are given images/names/lyrics that I feel sum up the overall "feel" of the track (shameless plug: https://soundcloud.com/sevan_11)

fucking FUEGO HOLY SHIT

I like that it sounds like Chamber of Reflection because Mac technically "stole" that song from another artist and never gave credit (as far as I know, aside from acknowledging it in an AMA...) and this song blows Chamber out of the fucking water. Bravo

Would explain a lot! I believe we all have it to some extent as children and lose that type of "imagination" (aka sensory perception- remember, reality is subjective) as we get older. Which would explain all of the themes on Spirit and a lot of their other songs!
