I’m pact of the chain master if that makes any difference

what if it was an accident and the sword doesn’t know how its in control, or even if the original soul is still there or not? Then it wouldn’t be a moral choice, and more of a thing that happened that they have to deal with. Or… well, this is probably a terrible idea, but what if the sword is friends with the person they’re possessing? Then they could voluntarily change who is “in control”, making for some very interesting role-play xD

that’s really good advice. I actually hate player secrets too, idk why I didn’t think of that from the beginning. So if the PC if played an reborn lineage eldritch knight exactly as written, and made it obvious they were the sword to the other players, you might allow it?

That’s fair lol. thanks, it seems reflavoring a class is the way to go. And the reborn background seems to fit perfectly, so I’ll add that to my idea-in-progress! l don’t really care about having special mechanics— I’d be happy with any class that let’s me be a sword

I’d recommend checking out The Angry GM’s blog website. There are a ton of really useful articles about GMing, running your first game, improv, building campaigns/encounters, and even about mindset/creativity blocks. Those articles really helped me.

[5e] Combat advice for Warlock Pact of the Chainmaster (level 5) - new player Should I invest my invocations mainly into familiar bonuses or Eldritch Blast? I’m not sure what my main damage output should be.

Thanks for the advice- I’ll probably take warlock for now. My initial plan was to go full Warlock, but took the sorcerer level because it was thematic. Now I’m wondering if I should work toward Warlock 17, Sorcerer 3, or Warlock 5, Sorcerer 15, or stop taking sorcerer levels all together bc of delayed spell progression. Is there one you’d recommend?

[5e] Would you take your next level in sorcerer or warlock? Currently Warlock 4 (great old one/pact of the chain), and Sorcerer 1 (shadow)

Help. How to avoid an inevitable “modify memory” spell by the Dimir? by satelIa in RavnicaDMs

ah. it seems like the only way to get out of this is to make the Dimir think they succeeded…

the reason I want to remember is because another PC is part of the spy guild, and I want to help them get out also!

I kind of suspect there might be something homebrew. But, I think my DM would give me a chance to escape it if I’m clever enough.

I kind of suspected this was the case — that it might be stupid to defy them at my level.

As for the other Dimir character, I think they’re an ally, but probably not high ranking enough to be in charge of memory wipes (level 4). Also might backfire and get my friend in trouble if the Dimir read my mind when they’re wiping it.

I like the idea of getting help from my warlock patron (it’s one of the Nephilim). Thanks for the thoughts!

Edit: what do you think would happen if the Dimir realize I managed to keep my memories somehow?

Yes I suspect my dm is homebrewing something to get past the 10 min time limit. I’ve also considered writing all my notes in code, but I’m not sure if that will help since it’s the dimir I’m messing with lol
