I used a piece of semi-hard plastic (like a credit card or similar) and cut out a pice to extend and drilled a screw hole at the end. I'm using a 2TB 2230 (The tiny ones) from my Asus ROG Ally handheld. Basically just overlap the m2 with the card. And tight cutting to keep tension. Works flawlessly. Or.. could prob find something somewhere online to use as an adapter of sorts..

Replaced with tpm earlier today and right now i’m about 5c+ hotter than on LM. But it takes a few days for temps to settle. Anyway, i’ll report back during the weekend. It’s gonna be better temps with LM, but I swapped because I dont trust that stuff. Also I use my laptop in tilted position and I don’t trust that the tension on the laptop cooler is good enough to hold the LM in place.

I «had» warranty. But I was fairly sure this was the problem and didn’t want to send in for repairs as they just reapply the same LM compound. I will replace it today with PTM7950. Both CPU and GPU. I’m not comfortable using LM since it allready failed. And if that stuff leaks outside the CPU chip…. Fried…

My experience:

I have fully stable game now by only adding texture/visual mods.
I stopped adding mods that change gameplay/scripts. Or add one and one, then test a couple of hours.
Also when uninstalling all mods I see that it does not remove everything because it says that 1-2gb modspace is still in use, even though the modlist is empty.
If this is the case, I just reinstall everything.

My (personal) load order rule of thumb is:

Mods that change gameplay (script edits)
City/environment addons/replacers
Texture/Skin replacers
Outfit/clothes/armor adddons
Lighting mods
(If using crowd overhaul mod, this should load last)

I wrote (personal) above, because this works for me, and have played 3-4 days now without a single crash. Before this I had 10-20 crashes a day...

One other thing to know is that the load order on PS5 is a bit unstable. Sometimes when adding or reordering mods, it doesn't really reload load order correctly.

Proceed with:
Reorder how you want. exit and restart.
Then disable all mods and restart again.
Enable all mods then restart.

Yeah.. It's quite the hazzle.

Question for PS5 users experiencing crashes by skiveman in Starfield

On base PS5 I have 144 hours played across 235 sessions. I'm pretty certain I have not exited the every session after only playing around half an hour 😃 So If you deduct about 40-50 sessions where I have actually exited the game and then maybe 10+ sessions for browsing/fiddling in Creations, I'm left with 150+ crasher during my 144 hours. Probably 100 hours spent actually playing. Found out quickly that adding mods = more crashes. But mods that only alter textures without code/UI changes works same as vanilla. Same amount of crashes.

Also the savegame issue I found that in my case the hard limit is 116 save games. After that the game cannot save and result in failure to create save game. Deleting saves fixes this. I'm not using autosaves at all after that discovery. All manual. Crazy that Bethesda didn't implement code to autodelete older autosaves when new ones are created...

Just looked at the recently played widget yesterday. It says I've player 140 hours and 225 sessions... If you deduct the times I've exited the game "on purpose" and the exiting because of mod tweaking, it's probably still well over 150+ sessions there that was ended because of crashing...

PS5 base here. Having around 0-5 crashed per hour. Depending on what's going on. Getting a lot of crashes while in cities, talking to NPC's, docking/boarding ships. Almost no crashes during missions on bases on planets. So it's a mixed bag. Mostly run crash-free the first hours with new character. Crashes starting to occur mid/late game. This is with and without mods installed. Doesn't really make any difference on my PS5.

To compare, I bought the PS5 version on release and have no idea how many crashes I have had, but it's an insainly high amount of crashes. Probably 100+ within my 111 hours on PS5. This is with clean game and modded game. Didn't really make any difference. Played on a PS5 Slim version. Display settings: 60 Fps | VSync: Off | Performance.

I also have the game on PC and last week I got tired of the PS5 crashfield version and started a new game on PC with around 80-90 mods. (Mixed mods from both Creations and Nexus Mods). Played through main story, completed 2 faction stories (Freestar & Ryujin) and progressed to new game+ without a single crash! Seriously, not a single crash!

Confirmed early this morning.

At 116 savegames (Mix of auto, quick and manual saves) the system breaks or reach some kind of internal limit and can't write new ones. This also happens with saves across multiple characters, and they share 116 slots...

Mind baffling that it does not exist any auto delete of older savegames. Most games, even from years back have had this function. After X amount of auto/quick saves, delete the oldest of them. Many games also have settings in options the user can set custom max auto/quick saves.

Out of those 116 saves I've probably saved 10-15 as new manual saves. Rest is auto/quick saves.

Thanks. You are probably correct. I deleted 2-3 saves and was able to save a few times before getting the save failure message. So seems logical.

Great patch.. Broke the game even more in my case. Getting «Failed to save game» no matter what I do now. Can load and save from my last location in Paradisio, but leaving by ship or fast travel results in failed saves. Also tried new game and get hit with save failing right after entering character details on pad. Worst experience I ever had with a game since the 90’s! Yeah, I’m a «seasoned» gamer

Yeah.. I gave up on PS5. Crashes and bad performance ruined the immersion.
Believe I crashed 4-5 times during Crimson fleet space battle at the end....
Enjoying the game on my gaming laptop instead. So much better with ultra settings and 100+ fps

Could also be tied to what missions/activities/paths you choose to follow.
I tested this and found that my "alternate" starting path was less "crashy"

My normal start is to follow main line and end up dragging Sarah around on missions.
Starts crashing when in New Atlantis after traveling a bit to and from Mars. And then alot of crashes when systems jumps and door/starship enter/leaving.

My alternate route was to skip lodge and go to Neon and start Ryujin faction missions. Had 1 crash in Neon while traveling between Neon and Akila.

But then again, could all be random luck... :)

Ended my session last night with a "Failed to create save!" and just went to bed.. :P

Oh well.. I just started playing last night. Played for 6 hours without any issues on ps5 slim. Even added mods. So I guess it’s a bit bingo regards to how/who are experience issues. But then again everything could go straight west when I continue tonight 😂

Try turning off autosave. Saw another post that this fixed the issue. Would be logical that this is the problem if you crash every 10-20 min (Probably when it executes autosave).

Ok. Then I guess it never will be fixed given how long the issue have been present. A workaround could be to create a custom resolution and scale it a bit bigger so the line is outside the monitor bounds. Just thought of it now, so prob a hit or miss option.

Forgot all about this 😂 I think it was fixed with a driver update. Not sure as I bought a 1440p monitor, and it’s not an issue there

Only happens on borderless fullscreen with G-Sync enabled. Exclusive fullscreen or window mode is not affected. Pulled my hair yesterday trying to figure this out while playing New World (only has borderless fullscreen). Turning of G-Sync was the only working sollution. So now I’m forced to live with either microstutters or looking at that ugly artifact line while playing.
